If you are going to talk on channel 19 only, the Uniden is fine. If you
want to take on any 40, the Uniden is fine. If you want more power and
the ability to talk off of the CB frequencies, then get a 10 meter.
But again, most 10 meter radios are the Galaxy, Ranger, Connex, etc,
type. Most are made by the Ranger company, and they drift terribly.
Cobra came out with the new 10 meter, but they make them in China, and I
heard they perform like they are made in China.

Vinnie, thanks a lot for all the input. I'll

probably leave the 10- bands to some future

(if ever) point in time -- perhaps, if and when I

develop more of an interest in ham radio, etc.

So, I'll go with the PC78ELITE. BTW, I find it

interesting that Uniden doesn't appear to

market any 10-bands

Someone else posted a link to a Magnum

radio being sold at copper.com and they seem
to have a really good price on the Uniden:

Carefull with Copper. I have heard horror

stories about their return policy. Once they sell
it to you, they won't take it back.

I've heard stories about them for years, and since I have been on this
group, that is all I have substantiated about Copper....nothing but
stories. Concerning the return policy, this is quite popular actually.
Many major stores do not accept returns and refer to the manufacturer,
just like the water heater I recently installed. Giant sticker says "do
not return to place of purchase, instead call...."
For what it's worth, the Copper-bashing began in the late nineties with
a few "techs" who were being way underbid by Copper's pricing.
I've purchased from Copper a total of three times, no problem. I
purchased from D & R in Ontario, had a problem, full return, cluster****
to receive a credit. I purchased from CB Candy, had a problem, they
corrected it, but it took way too much time. Sold a unit for Brian (via
a referral) and the dude got his order fast but moved away before I
could get a definitive opinion about the linear. If I have a poor
experience with a business, it's given a chance to correct it. If it
doesn't happen, I'll never do business with it again.

Even if you have to pay $10 or so, get it from

a place that will accept returns.

Yes, Amazon is decent.
