I've had really good reports on the IC-SM6. Kinda small and the bottom of
the Icom desk line, but it seems to work well with the impedance. I tried
Astatic, Shure, and a no-name, but short of going with Heil, or the more
expensive Icoms, it does very well.

Rodgo. Icom is different than most HF radios in that the transmitter feeds
the mic. I have an old SM-5 that seems to work ok for me. I was wondering
if the upgrade to th sm-8 or sm-20 would be worth the $100-150 extra?

I talk to a local guy that did the conversion to the d-104 with an icom and
his audio is good too. Strange bird for microphones.

A real CBer reacts to the sight of channel displays, signal
meters and LED bar type meters in much the same way as a
real amateur reacts to the sight of a nice pair of 6146s or
a heavy metal fan reacts to the sight of an air guitar.
They grab a napkin and rush (with a limp) to the restroom.

That, Steve, is why only a real CBer goes blind after seeing
so many CBs lit up.

First you need to be able to use a camera first.

1. Point.
2. Click.

Cheap camera phone, cheapest on the market. 640x480,
poor night mode and extremely poor close up.
It's also very slow reacting. It takes some time to adjust
for the light, and takes a couple of seconds to take the
picture after you press the button.

You should see some of the strange effects. Apart
from adding colours that were not present, it can
make very solid objects look warped.

But it does for what I need. Anything better would
only get stolen.

Regards,
Peter.

James,

Once you realize that every post made is not purely for your
titillation, and that we really can survive without your approval
of any particular post, then you will worry less about it.
I certainly don't have the time to report on every post that
fails to excite me, I just ignore them.

If failure to be impressed or interested is the worst of your
problems with messages on this group, then you are indeed a
lucky chap.
There was a time when following a link on this group could
leave you with much to explain about why certain content has
been found on your hard drive.

Regards,
Peter.

You were the first to post the question. I did postulate that you
intended a response. Usually when one posts an interrogative and is
seeking responses, they should expect both positive, neutral and
negative responses. Mine was intended to be more neutral and I
explained my position. It was not intended to be derogatory. Instead
it was to show that not all responses would be positive.

Now if less than favorable responses are not easily accepted maybe you
should refrain from such behavior in the future.

Trust me there are times when I do not respond to your posts and
others, as they are not warranted, I find them less intellectually
stimulating, or I care not to go where the thread may ultimately end
up. Remember, this is entertainment. It is something that one should
remember and often forgets.

To be honest I purge the news reader database from time to time when
the partition on the hard drive gets full. Besides if I want to go
back and review older posts I can use google. They have archives of
the USENET that spans back to 1992 and I don't need to keep large
amounts on the hard drive.
