Brilliant. Surface mount components and no ESD protection. Vinny, maybe you can explain to all of us why you would need ESD protection... when all components are underneath a grounded metal shield. Thanks in advance for your explanation... lol http://tinyurl.com/2t2usu |

Thanks in advance for your explanation... lol The componets are sitting on bubblewrap. That was the point. Assuming that that is not ESB bubblewrap and can actually hold a charge, where do you think the path is going to? Vinnie S. |

Thanks in advance for your explanation... lol |http://tinyurl.com/2t2usu | |------------------- Sheilding does nothing for ESD protection. ESD damage can be induced from power leads as well as signal inputs and outputs. In fact more damage is done with ESD discharge with ground rising above the positive supply potential during an ESD event. A 4KV discharge is easily encountered with handling of any componnent or assembly without even the person knowing it happens. The human body can impart as much as a 16KV discharge during an ESD event. james |
