Good morning.
Before you continue reading, this page is mainly for those who are
curious about what Cibi and also to those who wish to gain a position
without knowing'' or'' set foot. = Also very useful in road safety.
Therefore, no technique here.
-
The Cibi is still very active.
Its use is very simple and free today because any license (or other) is
requested.
-
Communications are of course free, two or more they are regional or
global scale (with the spread) as at the moment.
-
The Cibi: This is the best way to break the solitude.
To discuss with strangers. Their voices heard. Meet people.
On the road, it's just great ...
All you need is a good antenna position Blooming, and a well regulated
power supply if it is for use at home. The contacts are generally very
friendly.
-
Prefer positions multimode (FM, AM, USB, LSB). They are more efficient.
Also in some difficult conditions locally, you can simply switch to USB,
LSB or FM to retrieve the caller.
-
The different modulation modes:
FM: Always used this mode is appeared today in France with the first
post Cibi approval. The 22 FM channels. Communications are clear with a
strong background as soon as you release the microphone. The use of
squelch (noise limiter) is recommended for the ears.
-
AM: The method most used for local calls and on the road. Sensitive to
atmospheric effects and other parasites. It is also a victim of its
success by the hubbub that one can sometimes find. The AM appeared with
the new standard of 40 channels in 1983.
-
USB / LSB: Mainly used for long distance view of the very long upper
channels to 40 channels and approved following the spread.
Some is used in large local. Sensitive to frequency deviations.
We will use the Clarifier for fine adjustments on the frequency of the
corresponding. Appeared on the positions approved in 1983.
-
The calling channels:
In AM: 19 (and maybe even some departments of the 27)
USB: 4 and 12 of the 40 top channels (for positions unbridled export
version).

There are some additional details that I find interesting to make.
-
1 - Road Safety: The information given by the spontaneous Cibi is free
and without any influence by any statute, much less altered by a third
party, since it's you, me, anyone else who will be given this
information. In the early 90s, she was used as a weapon against "danger
zone".
Furthermore, it limits falling asleep at the wheel at night because of
the fact that you're all alone at the wheel, and suddenly no one to
talk. In other words, there are more people on the Blooming and mind
remain alert for that you will be in the process of chatting. (Ps.: The
Cibi driving is managed in the same way as mobile phone).
-
The state does not recognize (yet) that is in the public Cibi. Yet the
examples are not lacking on the Internet around the world and also in
France.
For my part, I am equipped Cibi as much at home in the car, and as soon
as I arrive on the bridge of Aquitaine (Bordeaux), I never fail to give
the channel 19 on the traffic conditions on This bridge is always a
place quite complicated and even more at peak times.
-
2 - The Road Safety: More and more often, trailers and trucks are''
visited'' with no one moves for various reasons. But if all the road
were equipped with Cibi, they could more easily be called one another
and it is well known, the number is strength. (I am talking of deterrence).
-
Nothing better to make them think and scare away thieves. In other
words, the essential tool for professional drivers.
The mentality of CB enthusiasts is the same as that of Motorcyclists. So
why deny it.
-
3 - How to choose a material: A type of equipment use. (Now everyone
does what he wants).
For me, this is a post Multimode (see my videos) and a large antenna
(1.90 m).
- Hikers in 4X4 in the woods prefer to have a small post with small
antennas for their small size and without the risk of tearing the
antenna with a branch.
-
- The road will prefer to have a way station (AM / FM) or upscale
(multimode) with an antenna of 70 cm and 1.45 m in order to pass under
bridges.
- For other road users (cars, campers), well anything is possible. The
small post in multimode antennas with small or large antennas like me.
In the latter case, we must remember before you get to an underground
car park for example.
-
- At home we take care to choose a power amp overvalued in order not to
see it overheat. The position will necessarily be a multimode (FM / AM /
USB / LSB) for all types of 'contacts'.
-
At the antenna, I have a preference for 5/8 th (between 5 and 7 m long)
with a low-pass filter located between the station and antenna. The
antenna must be located above the TV antennas with the best possible
clearance.
-
- In all cases, and can not be repeated enough. The antenna must be
properly adjusted.
1 - Not to toast the post.
2 - To that communication is optimal.
3 - to minimize the risk of disruption.
-
One thing is sure, a good job with an incorrectly adjusted antenna will
never give good results. The best setting of the antenna is with a
measuring device (tosmeter) must be equal to 1.1. This is the measure
that we generally find in the manuals.
- There is one thing to know about antennas is that the antenna is
little more is the scope will be reduced.
The reception will also be affected.
-
I add some videos.

These are not mine but that of American Road. Let us recall that it is
there that everything has to start.
You'll find plenty of other on YouTube.
-
I prefer not to give advice on any particular site or used equipment
dealer not to favor one over others.
-
Have a question? Ask where the Cibi.
-
YouTube: There are two films (full version) on Cibi. My goal here is to
show a more interesting what Cibi.

One last detail: The advantage of Cibi, is that we do not see spelling
errors.
