Default New Antenna Purchase

I am looking to buy a base station antenna. I would like to get a beam
antenna, but do not know what type. What would be the major differences
between a straight Yagi antenna and a crossed Yagi? Also, how long are the
elements on a Yagi and a cross Yagi antenna? Thanks for all the help.

What's the matter? YOU can't answer the question in a friendly
manner. Is that why you consider this group unfriendly? Because
YOU can't be friendly?

A "crossed" beam is either a quad or a yagi with both horizontal
and vertical elements. A quad has vertical and horizontal insulated
spreaders to hold a wire loop around the perimeter. A quad has
slightly more gain than a yagi type. Yagi elements are around 18
feet long. Quad spreader lengths are around 12.5 feet long.
With all beam antennas the primary factor for gain is boom length,
not the number of elements. Most omni antennas are vertically
polarized, so if you purchase a beam and want to talk to omnis then
you should make sure you beam has vertical polarization.
