There's good deals on used mobile rigs that will work much better anyway. What are you trying to do with it, if it -was- working? This will sound stupid to serious CBers, but I have a mobile rig with a magnetic mount antenna stored in a metal box behind the seat. I don't want it hooked up all the time - only on long trips. So I thought a portable would be a good alternative for daily commutes - I don't need a lot of range, but it's good to be able to hear the truckers if I run into a traffic jam. And it can sit on the seat next to me with a minimum of setup and fuss. tmac Oh I understand that application, they're golden on road trips. A cheap Uniden is like $45 new, add a cigarette lighter plug and a cheap mag mount antenna, and you're good to go. Rock on. |
