I'm looking to buy a weather alert radio that has the local

Do you guys have any recommendations?

Thx.

Look for any weather radio that has S.A.M.E. in order for it to be
programmed properly you'll need to know your county FIPS code but that
can be found online.

try this link

You can also get regular scanners that have this feature.

Thanks for the link, Keith.

hey no problem, I just remembered I have a CD that has the FIPS code
for every state and every county state code is 39 and your county code
is 103, Also some weather radios will allow you to enter several
codes, in other words if you want to hear alerts for neighboring
areas, like the ones that would get hit before you would so you have
advance warning.

Cool, that's what I'm looking for instead of hearing the alarm
go off and tell me the Chagrin river is at flood stage at 2am. ;)

Thanks again.

heheh, I could have been a smart ass and gave you a code for an area
prone to weather events like oklahoma or something, but I'm a nice
guy...... or am I? you'd have to ask the high school princippal who's
car I welded to the lift in auto shop at the vocational high school (I
didn't take auto shop btw so they couldn't pin it on me, they never
figured it out)

Everyone I've ever had, or that the local government offices had
didn't work. We have 2 at the Red Cross office now that even with the
FIPS code entered, do not send the alarm when warnings are issued.

heh yeah they did, I used to pull a few good jokes there, including a
bottle of skunk scent poured onto a shop rag and dropped down the
ventilation system for the main office.

Hey Frank, any thoughts besides the obvious S.A.M.E. technology?

$100 or less range.
