Need help, Magnum 257 mod

I just bought a new Magnum 257 and when I opened it up, I noticed that that
"diode D2" mentioned in the mod
(http://www.radiomods.co.nz/albrecht4...um257mods.html) isn't there.
There's a purple wire soldered onto the board where one of the legs of the
diode would be. Anyone have any experience with these new versions?
