If it was in his level-headed nature to make such a remark, it seemed

I was going to give a quick and easy answer, but after thinking about
it I figured this is as good a time as any to clear the air with the
group. I hope this diatribe prevents any misunderstandings that may
occur in the future.....

I know that I'm an arrogant ass, and I know that people don't like me
because of it. But I really don't care because this isn't a popularity
contest, and I don't have any desire to socialize with semi-literate
rednecks who think life revolves around beer, CB radio, porno videos
and "professional" wrestling (and no, I don't mean everyone is like
that). I'm here to provide tech help for those that want it, clear up
some of this CB-mythology, encourage fence-sitters to operate legally,
and get a few laughs by prodding Twisty into paranoid tantrums.

No, I wasn't born an arrogant ass -- I worked hard at it. I taught
myself electronics when I was a kid (mostly tube stuff because they
were cheap -- boy, those were the days!), I had formal training and
some radio/electronics experience in the USMC, worked in a commercial
radio shop for several years, earned my degree by studying hard, and
have worked in the field as an EE for over a decade. I know my stuff,
and I have proven that many, many times in this group by chasing off
the voodoo-tech-wannabees who used this group as a refuge from other
experienced and knowledgable techs and hams in other forums.

I am generally polite to people who are polite to me (with the
exception of some regular newsgroup keyclowns, of course). As far as
personality is concerned, people must realize that everybody is
different and will have different personalities. I couldn't care less
if a person is an arrogant ass, a sloppy drunk, or even a flaming
homosexual (which is -not- a reference to Landshark -- I don't know
his sexual orientation and I really don't want to know). I don't care
if they can't spell, or don't understand English very well, or have
Tourette's syndrome, or even if they don't have a CB and just want to
hang out here. What makes a difference to -me- is if they can think
logically and chew gum at the same time. Many people in this group
can't. Others don't care to try because it would probably result in
mild to moderate psychosis due to the conflict between reality and
their half-baked ideals they use as excuses for their behavior (does
this sound like anyone we know?).

I don't think I'm such a bad guy -- I just take my RF seriously, my
discussions logically, my coffee black and my Tequila straight. If
that doesn't sit well with anyone else, that's their problem.

Look back at past posts I've made about Frank.
I've said a dozen or more times, that when Frank talks
about CB radio, I usually don't disagree, as with his
political views, again I usually don't disagree.
But when I have disagreed, it usually will end up with
him throwing out some sort of insult, instead of just
disagreeing.
Look at the posts that Dave & I had, were there insults
thrown out? No! Did we agree on most of what we talked
about? Yes! Did we disagree about some things? Yes!
But it did not end with insults being thrown at each other.
I saw his post in a response and this seemed pretty
poignant:

"But I really don't care because this isn't a popularity
contest, and I don't have any desire to socialize with semi-literate
rednecks who think life revolves around beer, CB radio, porno videos
and "professional" wrestling (and no, I don't mean everyone is like

What's your IQ Jim? I know what mine is and guess what?
It's a lot higher than Frank seems to think mine and I'm sure
a lot of others. Mopar is an owner of his own business with
multiple employees, I think he's got some smarts. I've talked
with you lot's of times, I wouldn't think of you as "redneck".
The truth is, he says he an EE, by what he's said here I
would believe it, but his broad statement above makes no sense
if he is as smart as he says.
He knows no more about my education any more than I his
or for that fact anyone's else's on this board, so my point is
that just because someone types something that either you don't
like or makes no sense to you, doesn't mean that they are a

"semi-literate rednecks who think life revolves around beer, CB radio, porno
videos and "professional" wrestling"

As he said:
"I don't think I'm such a bad guy -- I just take my RF seriously, my
discussions logically, my coffee black and my Tequila straight. If
that doesn't sit well with anyone else, that's their problem."

If that is true, I'd bet he would have a great time with I and Mopar
and a couple of others here.
I don't take my RF seriously, It's not my line of work. I do take
my work seriously, my coffee from his state sponsor (Starbucks),
my Tequila is Petron, but I usually drink beer, not hard liquor.

"But I really don't care because this isn't a popularity
contest, and I don't have any desire to socialize with semi-literate
rednecks who think life revolves around beer, CB radio, porno videos
and "professional" wrestling (and no, I don't mean everyone is like
that)."

Notice the last line -- particularly the part in parentheses: "I don't
mean everyone is like that". Now read your response:

What's your IQ Jim? I know what mine is and guess what?
It's a lot higher than Frank seems to think mine and I'm sure
a lot of others. Mopar is an owner of his own business with
multiple employees, I think he's got some smarts. I've talked
with you lot's of times, I wouldn't think of you as "redneck".
The truth is, he says he an EE, by what he's said here I
would believe it, but his broad statement above makes no sense
if he is as smart as he says.

And you wonder why I will sometimes respond with an insult. Well,
Shark, it's because sometimes you (and others) read only what you want
to read and skip the rest even if it's relevant. I do the same thing
myself on occasion, but the difference is that when my mistake is
brought to my attention I will accept the fault and apologize
(assuming I don't catch it myself and correct it before anyone
responds). OTOH, you don't correct your mistakes -- you just whine
about me making insults.

And if you want examples of both I am perfectly willing to swim
through google and find some.

He knows no more about my education any more than I his
or for that fact anyone's else's on this board,....

I know nothing of your education, Shark. You could have a Ph.D. or be
a third-grade dropout, I don't know and I don't care. But when you
start crying about posts that you don't even fully comprehend or that
you read with your own interpretation, I tend to lean in the direction
of 'third-grade dropout'.

.... so my point is
that just because someone types something that either you don't
like or makes no sense to you, doesn't mean that they are a
"semi-literate rednecks who think life revolves around beer, CB radio, porno
videos and "professional" wrestling"

I'll invoke creative license on the description, but my point should
be obvious.

It might just happen, but only if you can agree that the merits and
personal satisfaction of operating legally outweighs the fleeting rush
of being a 'bad-boy on the band'.

I don't take my RF seriously, It's not my line of work. I do take

Kind of a bizarre movie though, makes you wonder what's

I guess your right Mopar. I think Frank's post was a kind
of "this what I am" that's fine, I can accept that, but can he
accept that we are what we are?
If this is some sort of olive branch, I and I hope others can
accept that from him too.

Nope. Never have, never will. I thought I would try it once about ten
years ago. Installing the software ripped apart my browser and patched
some system DLLs so I couldn't log onto my regular ISP -- even after
it was uninstalled. Had to reformat the HD to fully get rid of it.
Never again.

=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Lo ok back at past posts
I've made
about Frank. I've said a dozen or more times, that when Frank talks
about CB radio, I usually don't disagree, as with his political views,
again I usually don't disagree. But when I have disagreed, it usually
will end up with him throwing out some sort of insult, instead of just
disagreeing.
See below.
=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Look at the posts that Dave & I had, were there
insults thrown out? No! Did we agree on most of what we talked about?
Yes! Did we disagree about some things? Yes! But it did not end with
insults being thrown at each other.
=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0I saw his post in a response and this seemed
pretty poignant:

"But I really don't care because this isn't a

And you wonder why I will sometimes respond
with an insult.

He didn't wonder that at all. In fact, no one wondered that at all, He
pointed out your attitude sucks. Everyone knows why you respond with
insult,,,you have problems communicating effectively and a problematic
low self-esteem that effects your psyche.

Well, Shark, it's because sometimes you (and

others) read only what you want to read and

skip the rest even if it's relevant.

LOL..note how Gillinad again blames others for his responding with
insult..he claims he responds with insult because of what others
do..LMAO.
Of course everyone skips what they feel is not relevant. Again, here you
present yourself as one who decides for others what is relevant and what
isn't...and use it as an excuse for your behavior comprised of insult.

I do the same thing myself on occasion, but

Of course you do the same thing,,"but".. the difference is, taa-daa:
You're a hypocrite.

the difference is that when my mistake is

brought to my attention I will accept the fault

and apologize (assuming I don't catch it

myself and correct it before anyone responds).

Wrong,,you insult when it is pointed out that you have been wrong,
especially with your technical mistakes, which makes you go wild with
incoherency and off-topic personal rants, and no I'm not talking about
myself, I'm speaking of a host of people that have corrected you in your
incorrect theories that don't work when put to real life applications.

OTOH, you don't correct your mistakes -- you

just whine about me making insults.

The truth has always pained you. If pointing out your insultive demeanor
pains you so to the point of misnterpreting those who illustrate your
manic depressive actions as "whining", the remedy is quite easy,,stop
insulting,,as usual, you cry about your own inner problems and somehow
blame others for pointing it out.

And if you want examples of both I am

perfectly willing to swim through google and

find some.

=A0
Go ahead,,,,swim in google excrement and find some of those times you
apologized,,,then I'll do the same and find many more where you were
blatantly wrong and either attacked the person correcting you in a
personal manner in attempts to redirect the topic from one of your
ignorance and technical incompetence to one of the person that corrected
you, absent of any apology whatsoever. .

=A0
=A0(=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0He knows no more about my education any more than I
his or for that fact anyone's else's on this board,....)

I know nothing of your education, Shark. You

could have a Ph.D. or be a third-grade

dropout, I don't know and I don't care.

"But",,you DO care, as you make such comments relating to such,,,posting
about things you profess not to care about illustrates yet another
problem of yours.
It's not anyone elses fault when they can't comprehend you,
Frank,,,,you're not the most effective communicator,,you haev a myriad
of problems lending to your inability to follow a thread and an
incredible low self-esteem which reduced you to insulting others. And
your interpretations are in the minority, it's why only yourself,
Lelnad, N8, and Geogre use the term "AKC" when relating to radio.

I tend to lean in the direction of 'third-grade

dropout'.

Yes, that much is quite obvious, as that mentality is apparent in the
majority of your posts, sans the ones with no insult.

(... so my point is
that just because someone types something that either you don't like or
makes no sense to you, doesn't mean that they are a "semi-literate

Creative license? LMAO,,how much "creative license" latitude could one
possibly have in the field of electronics when adhering to scientific
laws? Not much, if any.
Nevertheless, your "point" IS obvious, as shark illustrated it quite
perfectly.

I don't think I'm such a bad guy --

Inability to see yourself as the masses and moral majority.

I just take

my RF seriously, my discussions logically,

Your logic has been defeated by many more competent techs than the
manner in whcih you hold yourself.

my

coffee black and my Tequila straight. If that

doesn't sit well with anyone else, that's their

No,,it;s YOUR problem, because as with shark, as soon as you are told
your behavior is unbecoming, you escalate your attacks, like a child
that has problems communicating effectively,,they throw tantrums and
blame others for their insecurities and shortcomings, just like you,
Frank,

(If that is true, I'd bet he would have a great time with I and Mopar
and a couple of others here.)

It might just happen, but only if you can agree

No,,,...more like little green men hijacking your thought
process...again...
At least we understand the catalyst for your rabid undeserved responses
in addition to your lack of self-control of your own emotions:
alcohol.,,,but then again, you were pegged as an alcoholic years ago
when you said you "didn't drink anymore" and went as far to give the
reasons, as if any were interested in more of your personal
woes,,,lol,,,appears the alcoholic fell off the wagon. I hear they do
wonderful things at AA,,,it's not too late to gain a life instead of
attacking everyone elses and blaming them for your misery and failures
in life.
