Hello Leland. Nope, we got very lucky, thanks for asking. Lots of

water,
though.

is
getting boring,

and Frank, well he seems not to know what he doesn't know
from that UHF mount post. I've given up on him.

Yep, that's it. His "antenna farm" is being held down by a cinder
block..high tech hack he is.

Somehow I think that if the two of us dropped off the board, there would
continue to be no shortage of verbal sparring. Watching the technical
wars between those who know what they are talking about is much more
interesting than all the other bull****. I can't tell ya' how much I've
learned watching the debates. Just trying to do the research to figure
out who is right on some of these debates results in a bunch of
knowledge being acquired.

It's taken my several years, but I've finally reached the level where
removing the cover from a radio and doing my own soldering on some minor
issues is finally no longer intimidating. I guess I've arrived at the
wanna-be-hack level. For example, I just had a probem with one of my
radios that had never given me any type problem before. It seemed like
an audio stage dropped out. Once ascertaining it wasn't the mic or jack,
I had a decision to make. Call the new tech in town (my fave tech died
recently) or make it my project and maybe ruin the radio.
The radio is pretty easily replaced, so I figured, what the hell. I
opened 'er up and really didn't have that much of a clue what I was
looking at. My original plan was to open it up, come out here, and ask
the group "It's open. Now what?"
I saw a solder joint broke up front of the radio and another one right
next to it that looked like it was about to break (thin, weak, and it
"gave" a bit when slight pressure was applied). I resoldered both of
them and now it's fine. Yea yea, I know,,luck of the Irish and all
that....but, hey, it worked.
