The link at the very top has pictures, circuitry and everything! Is this not against the law? ![]() Jerry I've made 11 meter repeaters before. If you stay low keyed, you can get away with it for a very long time. Personally I think it's much better than running a bunch of heat to get out and you're not splattering the crap out of your neighbors if you're accessing it from your home. Worked great with a HH too but I had to make the encoder inside a large mobile mic since I couldn't fit it into the radio shack hh at the time. -Dr.X |

I thought you'd use the analogy of the "gun" and the "person holding it"
instead. Do tell, what harm would a cb reapeater do in comparison to a car wrecking at 100mph? Standing by.... Don "NO SPAM" wrote in message erio.net... "Dr.X" wrote in message ... NS If you're going to use that analogy, then make it a little more realistic. Using a repeater on 11 meters is more like driving 5 MPH over the speed limit. I guess you would rather have folks driving near hospitals with 1200 watt splatter boxes stopping hart monitors just so they can be heard. -Dr.X |

Do you do it because it is ILLEGAL? Driving faster than the speed limit allows - regardless if 5 or 100, linear amps, etc... ALL are illegal, so is that why you do it? ANY analogy could be used in this case. IF it is illegal, it is illegal - regardless what the situation is which is against the laws of the land. As for comparing the damage done in going 100 mph as opposed to a CB repeater... Maybe there isn't any comparison in that regard, BUT again BOTH are illegal. No, I wouldn't want people driving past Hospitals with 1200W splatter boxes, silly statement - they're not legal anyhow. SO that analogy sucks as bad as you think mine did. Besides, they won't "stop" a heart monitor. Maybe interfere. A "heart monitor" won't "stop" the heart, it merely reads the heart rhythm and allows the staff to see how the patient is doing. RF in close proximity may interfere with a Pacer, but I'm not so sure a 1200 watt radio going down the road will do it. It is more like Microwave ovens up close, some other forms of RF at high density, like Radar System. Cell phones are even thought to do it - in some cases. I'm sure there are 1500 watt Ham stations within proximity to some hospitals with no mention of problems. But no matter, if you're into illegal operations, nothing anyone else says will sit well with you. All I can say is - do it long enough, your turn will come. NS |

Well then you made no point. I think everyone here is mature enough to
already know it's illegal. I don't recall reading anything in the thread that said/argued otherwise. Typically, things are illegal for a reason. I'm still listening to why a repeater should be illegal on a CB freq....and a car going 100 mph ain't gonna cut it :-) Don "NO SPAM" wrote in message rio.net... "Dr.X" wrote in message ... Call the FCC and ask them, they're the ones who made the law, not me. I'm
not going to waste anymore time on this. It's illegal, I didn't make it that way, and I'm not going to burn hours to defend it. NS "M-Tech" wrote in message ... Well then you made no point. You'll just burn hours posting 8 times to tell us it's illegal.
My guess would be that a repeater has the sofistication and skill level to operate/setup and is out of the TARGET that 11 meters was designed for....the "push and talk" crowd. Other than it not fitting the agenda of a "citizen band", I can't think of any other reason. Don "NO SPAM" wrote in message rio.net... Let me see if I can help you with that Don. You see, some hams take offense when a common "CB'er" does something that might take some intelligence to do. Most hams don't care that running an 11 meter repeater is illegal. They care more that a CB'er might enjoy some of the capabilities that should be reserved for a privileged few. The ego of the more common amateur radio operator can seriously compete with some of the "channel masters" of the 11 meter band. Many of them break their own arms trying to pat themselves on the back for being such a smart tech or because they bought such great equipment. Let a CB'er build his own amp or transmitter and they're ready to pounce. "Can't let the trailer trash get too smart, nooooo. They might actually accomplish something. Wouldn't want that to happen." Anyway, I hope this helps you to understand even a little bit about his point (aside from "IT'S ILLEGAL!", that is). -Dr.X |

Yeah. I already figured what his "point" was :-) I just didn't like the
implication of the 100mph analogy and it's possible cause to bodily harm being used as a comparison to operating a 4watt repeater!! I thought his first post of "because it's illegal" was enough. Anyway, I've been good:-) Still trying to find you guys on 37-38 lsb/usb(Twist and you). Conditions have just been terrible lately. Don "Dr.X" wrote in message ... "M-Tech" wrote in message ...
