Personally, don't like em'. Ruins the fun of dx.....It's just like the
hammies getting all up on that internet repeater crap. What fun/challenge
is that?

Oh well, different strokes:-)

This comes from www.copper.com "forums". Apparently, there is a

"repeater"
for the chicken band on the air. The link at the very top has pictures,
circuitry and everything! Is this not against the law? .

I've made 11 meter repeaters before. If you stay low keyed, you can get
away
with it for a very long time. Personally I think it's much better than
running a bunch of heat to get out and you're not splattering the crap out
of your neighbors if you're accessing it from your home. Worked great with
a
HH too but I had to make the encoder inside a large mobile mic since I
couldn't fit it into the radio shack hh at the time.

Well, I've never tried using one for dx. I'd rather do that without any
help. The repeater was just for getting mobiles and hand healds on an equal
playing field with base stations around town. For that, it works great. When
the skip starts rolling, your freind across town isn't going to hear you
while your on a trc-216 even if you have it's antena fully extended.
(unless you connect it to an external antenna and maybe run up some heat).
