Hello Starloard:
Look around the neighborhoods, and I'll bet you will find one. Most folks will be happy to have someone take it down. Don't but the cheap Italian copy of the Starduster, is is the finest piece of junk money can buy. I bought one for a guy, and I had to modify it so the lose parts didn't make a intermittent connection. I'll bet if you keep an eye on E-Bay you will run across a few antennas. I got quit a few antennas this way for testing and custom made antennas. I have bought antennas off e-bay there where trashed, and some in good condation. As I live on a fixed disabilty income I have to watch what I can get and the
ones I've seen on ebay have gone outside of my price range and not having a car to drive around Rosamond with, it'd be hard to fine any. I may end up sticking a 102 steel whip on top of this trailer I live in. Got to be carefull about keying down what with all the t.v. ants so close around here. My last Starduster was one I got at a yard sale back in the 80's, had broken lower radis, so I used some amm tubing to fix them and had it on a pole so that it was just about 5ft off the ground on a hillside. With no radio shops around here I've not seen anything in the way of what's being sold now a days. I'd even go for a Super Scanner elec. beam or a PDL. Bet that dates me. well, 50 bucks will get you a A99, not a terrible choice...but one that will
last ten years or so. I have found and rebuilt several stardusters. Just collect radials and all you'll need is the hub. If you need a manual, just email me & Ill give it. come to think of it, I have a hub with a scanner antenna mounted on it for indoor use in the garage...I even screwed in 3 fiberglass 4 foot whips and it worked fine....I collect and am given lots of antenna stuff... My latest project was to build my own JoGunn style 3 element (x3) antenna...I had just enough radials and gamma match..I am finishing the hubs and already sold it for 125 bucks. Hadn't even talked on it yet... No rotor included... my 2 cents. Down south , If I had the time I could have gotten hundreds of antenna's from Ivan damage. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
