Most fans, especially those that hate George, would take him in a minutes as

No, that's simple math, Enzo.

People have owners that that don't spen money, and bitch
about it. Then the bitch about owners that do spend money. Well, which is
it?

Our payroll may be less than 50 million this year, what will the Yankees
be?

Most fans, especially those that hate George, would take him in a minutes

Are you kidding?!?! He's from Cleveland, and made many millions here.

as their team owner, because he is not cheap and wants to win.

He has SO MUCH cable and broadcast TV revenue that he's not spending
one red cent of his own money, with these high ticket player additions.

Smell the pasta, Enzo. You guys have a very unfair advantage. MLB needs
a hard cap that's similar to the one the NFL uses. (NBA too)

Probably over 200. But he built them into this commerical empire, and throws his

Most owners don't spend their own money. He doesnt either. Besides. He built
that with no help from the other teams. Why should he have to share it? The NFL
was built essentially by the commish in the 1960's. Same with Bird, Majic, and
Jordan, in the 1980's. Steinbrenner buil the Yankees himself. Wh should he have
to share it?

Smell the pasta, Enzo. You guys have a very unfair advantage. MLB needs
a hard cap that's similar to the one the NFL uses. (NBA too)

I have to remind you, the current CBA, which was approved by every team except
the Yankees, was geared only against the yankees, when it was implimented. The
Threshold for luxury tax was set so only the Yankees would go over.

Would you call that an unfair advantage?

Your problem is not the Yankees. It is the small markets and Bud Selig. The
lowest payroll teams get all the revenue sharing and luxury tax money, and are
not required to spend none of it. SO why would the owner impliment a cap in this
league, when that would essentially cap the millions of free money they get from
George, and on top of that, be required to spend millions in payroll?

There will never be a cap. They love getting free millions, and they love the
fact they don't have to spend any of it. The problem is the mid-market teams,
like the O's, Rangers, Tribe, who would love to spend revenue sharing, but their
payrolls are too high to qualify.

Like I said, the Yankees are not the problem.

I am not going to argue that the balance is too great in one direction. You are
right. There needs to be a better balance. But he is playing by the rules for
which the other owners set up. He didn't agree to those rules. The Yankees were
the only team to vote no on the current CBA.

Regarding the NFL and NBA, they are poor examples because neither you nor my
football (Jets, Browns), or basketball (Knicks, Cavs) teams, had any
championship in recent history. In fact, in the NBA since 1980, 6 teams have 24
championships. The Lakers, Bulls, Celts, Pistons, Spurs, and Rockets. That
doesn't look like balance to me. How do you think the LA clippers feel about
balance? When are my knicks going to win? What about the Jets? Before herm, they
were a league doormat for 25 years.

BTW, I went you the ESPN website to see what the Tribe spent. It was 34 million,
3rd from the bottom. I would also like for you to know that Jim Dolan, the
brother of the owner of the Tribe, is so dead set against the Jets getting a
stadium on the west side, that he offered 600 million for the land that the Jets
want. And he is the guy that essentially owns the Tribe, Knick, Rangers, MSG.

I don't know about you, but if he spends 34 million on your payroll, and has 600
million for land just to keep the jets out, Steinbrenner isn't the problem.

Time out, Vin. He doesn't move the rich man meter in real life, so
to say everyone only wants his money is a real stretch. The Browns
owner (Lerner)is worth real writing home about money.

The difference is in the TV revenue. You can't admit that?

This year, the Mets

TV revenue he created. Sure I admit it. That revenue wasn't their until he
signed a 500 million cable deal, in 1987. That was 14 years *after* he purchased
the Yankees. And of all that money in 1987, he didn't win a championship until 9
years later.

Outstanding! You don't say what kind of shape it's in, but it should be
covered with Simonis 860 Cloth, the rails should be firm and tight with
no damage visible by eye or touch (running your finger lightly along the
rails).
And sucking at pool can most definitely be corrected. Get yourself a
good set of NEW balls and more importantly, get yourself a good stick.
The stick will be the most important feature your game. Use a cheap
stick (pool hall cues, etc.) as a beginner and you will pick up bad
habits that will be difficult to break. Sticks vary in length and
weight, but are all within a few ounces of each other. A good beginner's
stick is a lower end Sneaky Pete. Figure about 100 bucks for a decent
entry-level stick...anything much less than that and you can use a
broomstick. If you are interested in leagues in your area, I can point
you in the right direction.
Good luck with it. Have fun,
