Un-F-ing real, America my ass, can't even put an antenna on something you OWN, that's.... bull****. Where is this country going? That is not entirely true. I lived in a condo that I owned from 1993-1999. While you own it, you own the building that you live in. The land is owned by everyone in the community. If you have a townhouse, then you migh have a small back yard you own, but there are rules there too. But you are making more of it that it really needs to be. And no, they are not "fascist" as clueless Frank leads you to believe. The fact of the matter is, you buy into a community, with a set of rules. There are there prior to any purchase. And new rules added or modified after purchase must be approved by a community vote. Everyone that goes into buying one of these know damn well what is required. In fact, it is a law that the by-laws of the community be given to you at closing. If you didn't know about this before hand, than you didn't do your homework, or you had a ****ty lawyer. It's really simple. If you want to go hang an antenna, or put up a tower, then simply go buy a house. And watch what you buy there, too. Some newer development also have rules for houses. The bottom line is, you are in control prior to your purchase. If you don't like the rules, don't buy one. FYI, I was on the condo board for about 2 years while I was there. DirectTV and DISH were starting to come out. As a board, the state law required that we must allow satellite dishes, however we could limit their placement. So what we did was approve a rule that allowed dishes to be hung on posts in the ground. They could not be attached to the structure or roof. If you were on the wrong side of the view, you were **** out of luck. We did this because the hack installers would put them on any roof and side of the building. This would maintian the quality of the looks of the complex, and hold up the property values, which was key. By the time I sold the condo, several dishes were being put up on wooden posts, with no complaints. Had I had a CB I wanted to install, I would have gone the "dipole in the attic" route. That would be perfectly legal and within the rules, and there isn't a damn thing anyone in the community could do about it. If he did that 1 month ago when he first asked, he would have been on the air already. Instead, he had gone round and round about numerous antennas, and now he wants to co-phase 4 dipoles.
