That's a pretty cool story :-)... I love hearing those good stories
about Cbing, which reminds me of my first shack. I ran a Cobra 19 plus and a very small power supply I bought off a guy for $15 or $20...the kicker was the antenna! I ran a 102" fiberglass whip and that Cobra 19 plus. Boy, was I having the time of my life, back in the mid-late 80's. This 102" whip was hung on my chimney with a chimney mounting bracket. Not exactly a base antenna like your friend's, but an antenna that I could talk/receive 10 or 12 miles with nonetheless! 73. I will have the ultimate shack! :-) BB Then i wish you luck with your dreams ![]() Just to make you chuckle i used to know a woman whos handle escapes me for the moment but she had an open fireplace in her council house and she was scared of putting up an outside aerial so what she did was assemble a 5/8 wave blue lazer 21 ft aerial up the chimney so there was about 2ft sticking out the top. Not really noticeable unless you were looking at the chimney but boy did she get out.... 50w linear was all she used and we could hear her from 20 miles away pretty clear.. and yes... for those about to ask... she picked up pretty good too... -- Remove the word Spam from my e-mail to contact me... http://www.PrivacySig.com/SIGbutherb...mail-black.png ~ |
