Default Transformer

Steevo schrieb:

I'm hoping to run an EM27 base station and am wondering what I need with
regard to a transformer to drop the voltage to the 13.8V required. £ is
definately a major factor in the decision - the thought of using an old 12v
doorbell transformer crossed my mind but the 1A output is probably a tadlow
for a CB. Anybody bought one recently? Would very much welcome any
suggestions.

A doorbell transformer will probably destroy your cb because you need DC
power.
A simple transformer gives AC only.
I assume you are in UK?
For 4 watts legal power on FM you will need at least 2 amperes at 13,8
volts.
A real good power supply is needed.
Nothing else will work well.
Take one that will be able to give 7 or 9 amps out if you want to run a
President George or Lincoln or another CB with up to 50 watts out one day.

greetings from germany
