Looking for Recommendations for an Xmas Gift

Nah. It's a tad smaller than the 1000, handling less wattage. They even have one smaller than that called "Lil' Wil"..I've used the 500, 1000 and 5000 with the same radio and couldn't really tell any difference. Of course, I wasn't pumping thousands of watts, either. I switched to a Lil' Wil when I got tired of knocking my Archer off the roof if I hit something too hard while off road. Way better reception on the Lil Wil, and no problems keeping it stuck to the roof, even driving 60 MPH into a 45 MPH headwind (though you can hear the antenna whips scream and the cable vibrate on the roof in those winds). -- Paul Johnson Email and Instant Messenger (Jabber): Got jabber? http://ursine.ca/Ursine:Jabber |
