Gotcha, know anything about the DENTRON GLA-1000B? There's one here for

Don't know anything about it. The reason I had inquired about that
Galaxy, was because the solid state amps were in the neighborhood of $1,
000-3,000. So when I inquired about the Galaxy, it was about $200. It
took off from there. Luckily, many hams came posted to stay away from
that amp. They said there were cheaper alternatives that were better.

I think that Ameriton was a single tube radio. Highly recommended by
hams.

As far as the Dentron, I use this site on eham:

http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/1609

There are Hams indivdual reviews, and I find very useful.

Yea that's a good review sight I've read up on a few things on there over
the years. I'm not in the market, still have the 30 L1 that I hardly use
much anymore. I also have a kenrich 515 that I think is a similar
configuration to that galaxy you were speaking of. It's been mothballed for
years along with the browning mark IV, it has the veneer on it to resemble
the browning.

Yeah, alot of the hams really pushed me away from that Galaxy amp. And it was a
Ham amp, since it covered 10-80.

Check this out on the Browning:

Wonder how many guys are still servicing those radios? I know the IV has a
bad reputation compared to the III.

That is why I posted that site. Seems the bad rep comes from a recall that many
radios were never sent in for. The only thing was they didn't list the recall
problem.

I havn't bought a Uniden radio since. If you buy another uniden,
don't get anything less than 68 or you'll be sorry.

Unident radios are great. Those are just the bottom end. I have a Grant
LT.
Incredible receiver for a CB.

Vinnie S.

I've had old Grants that walked the dog. Are the new Grant any good?

Well, mine is the same as the Grant XL/Cobra148 Phillippine version. So
far so
good. Great receive. Mind you, mine was new and not hacked. The only thing
I
have done to it was unluck the clarifier. No other mods.

Vinnie S.

I'm running a Taiwan made 148. I've done my own mods to it over the years.
clarifier, channels, tuning. And just to **** Dogie off, I'll mention it has
an echo board from an old connex. It's ugly, faceplate is worn and some of
the LEDs are dead on the channel selector. I still get good reports on it.

I've get a few PC-122's and I've got a TRC-451 that's Uniden all over it.
That 451 has great ears!

I have heard that about the TRC-451. Both Dave Hall and another site have
mentioned that.

Which Uniden was that?

I thought it was a really was a Cobra 146, now I'm not so sure.
Maybe the front is different, but the insides look like the scrapped
146 I've got. The front of a 146 is different.
