Default Question of radio desire

I've been away from the "CB" loop in so far as knowing what people are
buying up now days. Which "stock" CBs are most desired? I'm not talking
anything ham, convertible to ham - etc..... just stock CB. TIA............

Default Question of radio desire

The Realistic TRC-57, 457, 458, 459, and the 490 are very hot items.
They are base station radios do both Sidebands, as well as the Standard
AM 40 channels (except for the 57, it does 23) They also have a clock
built in (except for the 458 and 490). They go on eBay for close to
$100. I once saw a 457 go for over $300. If you're not looking for
sideband, then the TRC-30A, 55, 431, 432, 433, 440, 441, 455, 492, or
the 495 would be best. The 55 and 455 both have the clock in it, but
they are the mechanical ones.

Another Popular Item is the Realistic TRC-24C. It's the simple 23
channel mobile radio. They tend to do better in cold weather than the
syn. 40 channel radio. They also sound good, too. The only down side
is that the meters don't work on them.If you still want a 40 channel,
then the 467 or the 503 would be my recommendation.

Thanks..... I have access to at least two of those listed. What about
"newer" radios?

Newer Radios? Well... if you're looking for a base... The TRC-495 was
the last base station ever built (which was in 1995). As far as
mobiles are concerned, today's radios just don't do as well as the
older ones. However, the TRC-502, 503, and 504 are semi-decent. The
504 actually sounds pretty good. You can get a new 503 at RadioShack
for $39.99.

Eh, what about the "new" models of Cobra and Uniden radios out there ? I've
not been in a Radio Shack store for close to 6 months probably. Considering
I used to frequent them at least every other week if not every week.

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the Cobras and Unidens. The
only thing I know was that the RS TRC444, 445, 446, & 447 were made by
Cobra. That's about it.
