(Craig Davidson) wrote: The balloon was successfully launched last Saturday. It reached 83,000 feet over Texas before the balloon burst and the electronics payload parachuted back to earth. Amateur radio operators were heard talking through the cross band repeater from Galveston, Houston, Dallas, Austin, and Rio Grande. Recovery was as simple as entering the last broadcast GPS coordinates as a waypoint into a hand held GPS receiver and following the arrow to the landing site. Conveniently the package landed only a few hundred feet from a paved road.
