First Worry Later" (WFWL).

160 METERS NEWS....................
* Ijaz, AP2IA, states that he will be on daily at 0200z on 160 meters
No frequency was provided.

* Operators Yasunori/JI1NJC and Yuu/JR2KDN will be active from Iceland
(TF) from November 25th to December 1st. They will use a Rhombic
antenna and KW, and are interested in the low band. Here is a good
chance to get TF on 160 and 80 meters (espcially for Asia). Suggested
frequencies are 1828.5 kHz (listening down 5) and 3503 kHz (listening
up 5).

* By the time you read this, Charlie/W0YG and Burt/W0MY should have arrived
on Christmas Island (VK9X) for a two week plus stay as VK9XG. Their
major aim on this operation is 160 and 80 meter DX QSOs. According to
Steve, VK6VZ, the "VK9XG is likely to be the last lowband DXpedition
on Christmas Island for some time, as accomodation on the island that
is suitable for radio purposes is increasingly difficult to find." Look
for the operation to be on 1828.5, listening 5 kHz up and down. Charlie
and Burt will operate from sunset until sunrise every day, while dozing
in the dead periods. VK9X is a much easier shot on 160m for Europe than
North America, so few USA stations have worked VK9X on 160m. A maximum
effort will go into working North America on both SP and LP. Please QSL
direct to W0YG. Instead of sending through the Bureau, please use the
"Logbook of The World" (LoTW).

4K, AZERBAIJAN. Operators Rashad/4J9RI, Aleksandr/4J7WMF, Sergey/4J5A,
Andrey/4K6DI and Igor/4K5D are in Baku and will be active as 4K7Z in the
CQ WW DX CW Contest (November 27-28th) as a Multi-Op/All-Band/Single-
Transmitter entry. QSL via UA3FDX (direct or by the bureau); and also for
2004 CQ WW DX SSB Contest and other periods of activity.

6O, SOMALIA. Baldur/DJ6SI and Thomas/DL1QW are now active until November
26th. Callsigns being used are 6O0X (CW) and 6O0W (SSB and RTTY). Activity
will be on 160-10 meters. QSL 6O0X via DJ6SI and QSL 6O0W via DL1QW.

6W, SENEGAL. Look for Jacques, F6BEE, to be active as 6W1RW during the
CQ WW DX CW Contest (November 27-28th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/High-Power
entry. QSL via F6BEE.

8Q, MALDIVES. Operators Igor/UA9CDC, Willy/UN9LW, Andrei/RA9CKQ, Alexey/
UA9DD, Mikhail/RW6AN and Vadim/UA9CLB will be active as 8Q7DV in the

CW Contest (November 27-28th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (40m) entry.
QSL via 9K2HN.

9N, NEPAL. QSL Manager Dennis, PA7FM, informs OPDX that Michael, PA5M (aka
ST2DX, TZ6M, 9U5M, 5U7DX and TY5M) is now in Nepal for a period of 3 weeks.
He will apply for a licence, and if possible for 30, 20, 17 and 6 meters.
It seems a radio licences in 9N-land is given for 2 bands at a time, so
when you want 4 amateur bands, you will have to pay twice as much for the
licence. (6 bands = 3 times the price). As this was being written, the
callsign is not yet known. This time he will also try some digital modes
like RTTY, PSK31 or JT6M. However, it's his first operation with this modes,
so please be patient and don't expect too much. He will be using 100 watts
into a long wire for HF and a dipole for 6 meters. He is very anxious to
work anything on 6 meters (Let's hope for some propagation). QSL direct
only to PA7FM. There is a Web site with online logs and pictures as soon
as they are received, at: http://www.pa7fm.nl

ACIAG. The members of Croatian Amateur Radio Asociation, a member of the
IARU, formed the "All Croatian Islands Award Group" (ACIAG) at the beginning
of October 2004. The ACIAG is opened to all radio amateurs and people
who like chasing islands. The ACIA Group is an organization where you do
not have to pay a membership fee; the membership is free. Your membership
includes a membership award with a membership number; all you need to do
is send the membership application with 3 IRC coupons to cover the postage
expenses. The ACIA Group issues two awards:
All Croatian Islands Award (Basic)
All Croatian Islands Award (Diamond)
Awards above are available as Trophies, Diplomas, Certificates and Medals.
Islands are "activated" very regularly. Also, this is appealing and
available to the SWLs. Everything concerning the ACIAG and ACIA awards
can be found on the Web page at: http://www.9a7k.com

Direct (see QRZ.com) or the JA bureau ("NOT" the KH2 bureau). Their
Sunrise/Sunset is: 2026/0750z

BW2, TAIWAN. Ayumi, JH7BZR, informs OPDX that operator Hack/JL1EEE,
Iku/JL1WQO, Tad/JL1ANP and himself (JH7BZR) will be active from here
starting Thursday, December 2nd (Late Midnight) through Monday, December
6th (Early Morning). Operators will sign BW2/JL1EEE, BW2/JL1WQO, BW2/JL1ANP
and BW2/JH7BZR. They may have two stations active on 160-10 meters including
the WARC bands. Suggested frequencies a
CW - 1827.5 (listning up/down), 3505, 7005, 10135, 14030, 18090,
21030, 24915 and 28030 kHz
SSB - 3560, 7060, 14175, 18130, 21275, 24950 and 28475 kHz
RTTY - proper operating segments
The team will also take part in the 2004 ARRL 160 Meter Contest. Ayumi
states, "We are not serious DXers or Top band specialists. But we would
like to work many NA/EU/JA,etc. on top band as much as we can. Please be
patient!! Suggestions will be appreciated. (We are studying the rules)"
QSL via their home callsign; the bureau is welcome. There may be a log
search. Visit the Web page at: http://homepage1.nifty.com/jh7bzr

HS0ZDZ/G3NOM AND HS0AC/HS72B CLUB STATION UPDATE. Robin, WA6CDR, informed
OPDX with good and bad news. First the good. The HS72B CQWW CW and Special
Operations team (DL3DXX, DL5LYM, G4ODV, G4UZN, WA6CDR, HS1CKC, HS0ZDX and
HS0ZDZ) have received a very generous donation, and they will use it as
matching funds toward a new, well equipped FT1000MarkV, shipping & customs
costs for several FT980s they received with another generous donation, and
repair/re-tube of their amplifiers, including a newly donated FL2100. They
need your help to complete this project and bring the RAST club station
online as a permanent full performance station. The team members are putting
up their own money to make this happen; they need your help to finish the
job properly. Now for the bad news. This project, however, was put on hold
last week when station leader, Ray, HS0ZDZ/G3NOM, suffered a heart attack
and is still hospitalized. The project has gotten everything back on track
through major efforts of HS1CKC and HS0ZDX, but they still need your help.
However, the news about Ray, HS0ZDZ/G3NOM, is not good, according to
HS0ZDX. Anyone who would like to send their wishes for Ray's recovery
may send them to:
HS0ZDX will print out the messages and pass them on to his wife, daughter
and son-in-law in Bangkok. OPDX and its readers would like to send out
our best wishes and prayers for Ray's speedy recovery.

Baia Terra Nova) at Terra Nova Bay, Victoria Land (AN-16), is improving
the personnel. Among the 80 people present at the Base, there is Dr.

Ham callsign,I0QHM. He has been showing up on 14180 kHz at 1845z signing
I0QHM/IA0PS. However, as this was being typed, Mario is now signing
I0QHM/KC4. Mario is expected to remain in Antarctica until around mid-

KP1 & KP5, NAVASSA AND DESECHEO ISLAND. "The Lone Star DX Association
(LSDXA) has joined the effort to get Navassa (KP1) and Desecheo (KP5)
islands back on the air! As the primary DX organization associated with
this effort, the LSDXA will assist in many important ways to achieve our
common goal by encouraging Amateur radio operators to contact their
Congressmen to support new legislation to re-open these islands, and help
raise needed funds for court review of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
(FWS) ban of Amateur Radio on these islands. Action continues to be pursued
aggressively on multiple fronts. The inital grass roots effort conducted by
the DX and Contest community during the summer of 2004 has resulted in
legislation being drafted to force the FWS to allow access to KP1 & KP5.
As a result your help is immediately needed! Congressman Nick Rahall (D-WV)
has introduced HR5361 in the House of Representatives. Congressman Richard
Pombo (D-CA) has also signed on, making this a bipartisan effort. It is
critical that each and every DXer and interested Contester contact their
U.S. Representative now to tell them that this legislation is important
to you. Ask them to contact Rep. Rahall's office (202-225-3452; fax 202-
225-9061) and offer to sign-on to this pending legislation. With your
support, this legislation will be successful and move onto the Senate
and ultimately the President to be signed into law." The above is just
part of a very long press release by the LSDXA. It is important for
interested DXers and Contesters to read the whole press release. It
can be downloaded as a PDF file at:

(Click on "Island Project" and download "News ReleaseR8")
As the host organization for the project, the LSDXA has donated 500 USD
to a fund it will administer to help pay for the costs of moving the effort
forward in Congress and in court. If you or your organization would like
to help, please send your donation to the Lone Star DX Association,
c/o Jim Bass, K5KQI, 2709 Monarch Dr., Arlington, TX 76006. Mark your
donation for the "Navassa-Desecheo Project." Your help, in whatever amount,
will be greatly appreciated! LSDXA has been granted 501(c)(3) tax exempt
status by the Internal Revenue Service. News updates, additional
information and resources can be found at:

As cards are done, they will be posted . This will take place daily
until all requests are out. Those that have not sent the required

All correspondence related to this Expedition to

73s D.Bharathi Prasad, VU2RBI
Chief Co-ordinator, NIAR
Team Leader, Andaman Dxpedition - 2004

Word has it that she and her team have permission to operate between
December 3-31st. Earlier in the week (while Bharathi was waiting for
the official permission to be granted), Bharathi sent out a press release
stating she was extremely grateful to the DX Community for the encouragement
by their letters and E-mails. She states, "It is your opinions/suggestions/
recommendations made to Mr. Dayanidhi Maran, Honorable Minister of
Communications and others made it possible for me and the National Institute
of Amateur Radio (NIAR is a national organisation for Amateur Radio in
India is fully supporting me) to achieve very good results."

Please remember that funds are still needed for this operation. Donations/
funds should be directed to: National Institute of Amateur Radio
Raj Bhavan Road
Hyderabad 500 082
India

Funds can also be sent to the Charles, K4VUD. Charles states, "Any and
all donations that come to me will be completely used to assist this
DXpedition via the National Institute of Amateur Radio in India, the
umbrella sponsoring agency who, BTW, is allowed to receive foreign funds."
K4VUD mail address is: Charles Harpole, 3100 N. Hwy. 426, Geneva,
FL 32732 USA. Charles also states/recommands the following words to the
DX community: "This is truly an exciting moment for ham radio DXing,
activating an entity silent for about 17 years. Please be on your best
on-air behavior when calling. We want to show ham radio to the India
government and the world regulatory bodies that we are a disciplined and
worth while activity, fully deserving of precious spectrum space. There
are no firm answers yet as to what bands/modes nor what rigs/antennas.
This DXpedition is not a mass group of crack operators arriving with tons
of gear. However, there is some possibility of a continuing re-newal of
permits to VU4 by many India hams, thus, we have the hope of more contact
opportunities in the future. Warm up the rigs ... here we go !"
73, Charles Harpole
