4S, SRI LANKA. A few weeks ago we mentioned that Joel, F5PAC, would once
again be active from here as 4S7PAG from February 2-22nd. We also mentioned
that Joel would try to activate one of Sri Lanka's Coastal Islands (AS-171,
possibly Barberyn Island) on February 10-11th. We were informed by Alfred,
DJ0GM, that Joel was not able to activate Barberyn Island because foreigners
are not allowed to go to this island. He also mentioned Joel had several
problems getting on the air from 4S-land. Alfred states that Joel hopes to
hit the airwaves by Saturday, February 17th and is currently staying north
of Colombo on the westcoast of Sri Lanka. Joel was heard this past weekend
on 14256 kHz after 1300z. Look for him on 20 and 17 meters. QSL via F5PAC.
