3B6, AGALEGA ISLAND (DXpedition Update). Team leader Witek, SP9MRO, sent
out the following press release (edited): "2007 DXpedition to Agalega
Islands 3B6 Newsletter No. 3 -- Today (February 21st) the decision to
suspend the expedition to 3B6 Agalega had been taken. We will decide on
March 15th whether it is postponed only or rather cancelled. The decision
is due to enormous costs of the expedition that have much exceeded the
estimated budget.
The expedition was supported by PZK, SP-DX-C, G DX Foundation, EU DX
Foundation and institutional sponsors as well as other hams from a few
countries. We would like to thank all of those. Our main sponsors have
decided that the period between receiving the licenses and the time set
by Mauritius' government to start the ham's activity is too short.
Due to all of that, expedition's members are checking the possibility to
postpone it until the 4th term of 2007 unless it collides with September's
expedition to St. Brandon.
All of the donations will be immediately returned the same form they
were paid. We hope that, in case of reorganizing the expedition to Agalega
in the end of this year, our kind donors will be able to support us once
again. We would like to thank those who supported our actions, especially
those from Mauritius. Simultaneously we would like to apologize to all of
those who along with us counted on QSO in March 2007."

9Q1EK/9Q1TB QSL STATUS. QSL Manager Osten, SM5DQC, informs: "Due to
a misunderstanding between me and the printer, Tony, LZ1JZ, (my fault)
I have not yet received the 9Q1TB cards - please be patient! I'm up to
date with mailing of 9Q1EK cards, more than 230 letters mailed as of
today (February 20th). Georges is now back from his vacation, busy with
work but on the bands as much as he can.. For Europeans: We don't have
“euro” postage here, it's the same 11 SEK if mailed to USA or to Finland.
1 USD is NOT enough as our postage to ALL foreign countries is the same,
and we do NOT have economy mail, all mail goes as 'priority mail' = 'air
mail'. (USD 1 = SEK 7)"
There is a log search available at: http://www.logsearch.de
However, Osten states that there are “busted calls”, and if you have
any questions to please send him an E-mail at:
-or-

NEW UK POSTAL RATES. QSL MANAGER Phil Whitchurch, G3SWH (AD5YS), reports
that beginning April 2nd, 2007, the UK postal rates will rise across the
board by slightly more than 10%. Current situations and for some time
now, the 1 USD has been insufficient to pay for the minimum return
postage to countries outside Europe. This new increase will mean that
1 USD is no longer sufficient to pay for the minimum return postage to
countries *WITHIN* Europe. There is no surface mail service offered by
the Royal Mail to countries within Europe. However, they do offer a
surface mail service to countries outside Europe. However, at today's
exchange rate, the new postage cost is barely met by 1 USD and with the
continuing decline in the dollar/pound sterling exchange rate, it is
unlikely to remain so. The good news is that the new, 2009 expiry IRCs
are still exchangeable for the minimum return postage to all parts of
the world. However, very few seem to be using them at present. Please
bear the above in mind when sending QSL requests which may not be able
to be processed and returned before April 2nd. In particular, the cards
for the VP2MTE operation are unlikely to be received from the printers
by this date. Please do not send currency other than USDs or properly
stamped, 2009 expiry IRCs. If you must use mint stamps, please supply
them loose (not stuck onto the envelope). Any QSL requests received
without adequate return postage will be answered via the RSGB bureau.

SESH AWARD. The editor of Polish Radio Amateurs' Journal "QTC" is issuing
a "Special Events Stations Hunter Award" (SESH) to an amateur radio station
which can submit proof of 100 or more contacts with special events stations.
QSOs can be made on all bands and modes for contacts that have been made
after November 15, 1945. The SESH Award is also available for SWLs. For
complete details, visit QTC's SESH Web page at:
http://qtc.radio.org.pl/pokazartykul.php?articleID=482

TP2, FRANCE (Special Event). Francis, F6FQK, TP2CE Station's Director,
informs OPDX that to commemorate "International Woman Day", the Council
of Europe Radio Amateur Club (TP2CE) will be active between March 9-11th.
The station will be operated by 3 YLs (operators were not provided) on CW,
SSB and RTTY. QSL via F5LGF. Visit the Council of Europe Radio Amateur
Club (CERAC) Web site at: http://www.coe.int/t/e/tp2ce

USI ACTIVITY. Operator Jay, AE4MK, is expected to be active as K3USI from
several new islands in North Carolina for the U.S. Islands Awards program
April 20-22nd. His plans include to activate the following islands: Bear
(NC-new), East Dudley (NC-new), Wast Dudley (NC-new) and Huggins (NC-new).
Jay will be kayak camping on the North Carolina coast near Swansboro. He
will be limited to battery power using only a TS-50 w/50 watts on all
bands. QSL via USi eQSL, direct or by the bureau.

V7, MARSHALL ISLANDS (Update). Keisuke, JK1QLR, informs OPDX that he will
once again be active as V73KN from Majuro Island (OC-029), March 16-22nd.
Operations and band activity will be limited because Keisuke will be there
on business. He recommends to watch for updates on QRZ.com. QSL via JK1QLR
only, either through the JARL Bureau (DO NOT QSL VIA THE V73 BUREAU!) or
direct to (new address):
Keisuke Nagase, 486-60, Totsuka-cho, Totsuka-ku Yokohama City, 2440003 JAPAN

VP2V, BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS (TSA Problems). Steve, AK0M, informs OPDX
just before going to print "my VP2V/AK0M operation did not happen as was
planned for last week. TSA in Chicago refused to let me carry most of my
gear onboard my flight, causing a last-minute scramble for a way to get
the gear there. It ended up loosely packed in a cardboard box that was
checked through as luggage and things arrived in various states of
operability. Then my other luggage with some of my antenna parts was lost
for 4 days..... This is the first time that TSA has ever had any problem
with my equipment and is hopefully due to the specific manager in Chicago
that examined my carry-ons. Hopefully, Andi, DL2AU, was able to meet the
needs for VP2V. I will have more information on my website." His Web site
is at: http://www.ak0m.com

WP3, PUERTO RICO. Alfredo, WP3C, will be active during the ARRL Inter-
national DX Phone Contest (March 3-4th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (15m)/
Low-Power entry. His activity will also count for the WLOTA as LH-2802.
QSL via W3HNK.

XV, VIETNAM. Rolf, SM5MX, is back in Hanoi and has revived his old license
for XV9SW. He is expected to be on the air until April 30th. Activity
will be on CW on 20 and 15 meters. However, Rolf informs OPDX that the
downtown electric smog is worse than ever, so operation is just barely
possible now and then. Looking at the QSNs, Rolf's activities seem to take
place between 0430 and 1100z around 14044 and 21044 kHz. QSL via his home
callsign. He will answer QSLS upon his return to SM-land in August.

Z35, MACEDONIA. Ozren, Z32XA, will be active as Z35T during the ARRL Inter-
national DX Phone Contest (March 3-4th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band entry.
QSL via Z35T.

ZF, CAYMAN ISLANDS (NA-016). Bob, K3UL, will once again be active as
ZF2UL, March 1-7th. Activity will be mainly CW on 160/80/30 meters.
QSL via his home callsign.

ZP0, PARAGUAY. Tomas, ZP5AZL, will be active as ZP0R during the ARRL
International DX Phone Contest (March 3-4th) as a Single-Op entry. QSL
via W3HNK.
