Default VOA Relay Stations/BBC

How many shortwave relay stations does the VOA still use around the
world? Do they
broadcast via shortwave from any relay stations in the U.S. anymore?

Does be BBC have any relay stations in the U.S. broadcasting to the
Caribbean and Central/South America?

The VOA is closing HF SW down and going to local "relay agreements"
like radio Sawa.

Good question! Bethany,Ohio (actually Mason, north of Cincinnati) was torn
down several years ago. The only RF emitted from that site now is WLW 700
KHz.
Greenville is also off the air.
I don't know about Delano, or the other relay station in California.

The Broadcasting Board of Governors (The US government Board that controls
the VOA,RFE,etc) has been consistently cuuting back SW program hours and
abandoning HF SW Broadcasting, in favor of buying time on local AM and FM
stations overseas and the internet.
This is a very stupid thing to do.
It puts you at the mercy of local officials.
If the Local Supreme leader, or Imams, Gaulieter decides to not to relay
your programs on local radio, or to filter out your internet feed, you are
off the air NOW with no recourse or back-up program path

Many third world countries do not have high bandwidth internet connections,
and most third world people don't have any internet connectivity at all.
Basically the BBG is just abandoning large parts of their third world
audience.

HF SW has a large installed base compared to any other transmission means,
and it goes DIRECTLY TO THE PROGRAM RECIPIENT without any other agency
involved in its transmission.
