C5 - GAMBIA
After their successful DXpedition to Mauritius Island last year
Rich,OM2TW (team leader), Bob,OM1KW (CW/SSB OP), Joe,OM5AW (CW/SSB),
Roman,OM2RA (CW/SSB), Noro,OM6NM (CW/SSB), and Dano,OM1NW (digi/SSB)
of the "Mosquitos Contest Club" (OM0C) will show up from Gambia from
Oct 17-30 this year. Activities will take place as C52C with up to
four stations running simultaneously on 6-160m focussing on the
Top band 160m. Their plans include a participation in the upcoming
CQWW SSB Contest signing C50C and also a short trip to the island
Bijol (AF-060). The QSL manager is OM2FY, he confirms direct or via
the bureau. More information can be found online at:

CE - CHILE
Roberto,CE2/YV5IAL, will be QRV with from the Pacific coast using his
QRP equipment (5 watts) on 10/15/20/40m from Oct 15-21. He will try
towork in PSK31 on 14070.15 kHz every day from 2200-0000 UTC.
QSLs via bureau to YV5IAL.

VK - AUSTRALIA
It is only little known that Australia issues also suffixes with four
letters. These are novice licenses and more of 1.000 of them have been
issued so far. The suffix always starts with a "F". Raj,VK4FRAJ, the
12 year old son of VK4AN is the only one known to work also in CW and
sometimes it is not very easy for him to explain that in CW. Raj works
with only 3 watts, a vertical and a logperiodic and is momentarily
working on his DXCC award. He is awaiting every QSL arriving via the
VK4 bureau or via the direct address of his father VK4AN:

YK - SYRIA
Amateur radio is officially allowed in Syria for 60 years now. HAMs are
allowed to use the prefix 6C60 instead of YK between Oct 15 and Nov 11.

LU - ARGENTINA
The Grupo Argentino de CW (http://gacw.no-ip.org) celebrates its 30th
anniversary this year and the festivities take place in "Morse" in the
province Buenos Aires. LU1DZ/E, LU5FZ/D, LU6UO/D, LU7BTO/D, LW1EXU/D
and LW2DX/D will be QRV from there with two stations on 160-10m from
Oct 12-15.

T31 - CENTRAL KIRIBATI
Toshi,JA8BMK, destroyed his amplifier as T30XX on Tarawa and therefore
cancelled his activity as T31XX. On his way back home to Japan he hit
the airwaves as 3D2WW shortly.

YV - VENEZUELA
The Radio Club Venezolano organizes an activity from Portuguesa using
the call YW3AJ in all modes on all bands.The operation takes place from
Oct 11-14 and counts for the Venezuelan States Award. QSL via YV5AJ.

4N - MONTENEGRO
Toby,DD5FZ, is going to hit the airwaves as 4N6FZ from Oct 15-27.
He may be also a guest op at the station of YT6A and plans to take part
in the CQWW SSB and the WAG Contest. QSL via DD5FZ, via bureau is ok.

5Z - KENYA, AF-067
5Z4/YT1CS showed up from AF-067 on Oct 6 and will stay there until the
end of the month. OM Miki is using a TS-450S, a vertical for 40-10m and
a dipole for 80m, works mostly in SSB and plans to take part in the
CQWW SSB Contest. QSLs direct via his homecall.

6Y - JAMAICA, NA-097
Rick and JoAnne Donaldson are celebrating their 30th wedding anniver-
sary and 18th year on air from Oct 12-14. Listen for N0NJY/6Y5 (Rick)
and KB0IRW/6Y5 around 14190 kHz. QSLs via homecalls.

SOUTH PACIFIC
Larry,N0UU, and his XYL Jo Ann are travelling through the South Pacific
and Larry plans to activate following DXCC entities and IOTA Islands:

Oct 17: FO/N0UU Raroia
Oct 19: FO/N0UU Pukara

Larry's preferred frequencies are 21.290 and 14.215 MHz but he has

4TH STRANGE RADIO EVENT
Once again the Italian "Strange Radio Team" (SRT) organizes an event
which lasts from Oct 19, 0600 UTC, until Oct 21, 2200 UTC. Following

IRELAND, SPECIAL EVENT STATION
Guglielmo Marconi sent the first commercial radio message from an
Irish place called Clifden on Oct 17, 1907. Members of the Galway Radio
Experimenters Club will activate the callsign EI100MFT from Oct 13-17.

KAZAKHSTAN, SPECIAL EVENT STATION
Sputnik 1 started the era of modern spaceflight 50 years ago. The OPs
UN7SW, UA9LAK/UN, UN7FW, EU1FC, RV3AR, RN3ADS and RU3AWD are activating
the special event station UP50SAT from the spaceport Baikonur during
the month of October. QSL via bureau to RV3AR.

THE NETHERLANDS, SPECIAL EVENT STATION
PA50JOTA from Nieuweroord is celebrating the golden jubilee of the
"Jamboree On The Air" from Oct 17-31 (http//www.scoutnet.nl/~jota).

SILENT KEYS
Dimitar,LZ5AZ, one of the founding members of the World Wide Young
Contesters, passed away at the age of 23 on Oct 2. The DX community
bemoans also the loss of the wellknown Ukrainian DXer Alexsandr
Kuznetsov,UY5EG, and the Spanish EME enthusiast Jose Maria Prat,EA3DXU.
