2M, SCOTLAND. Paul, 2E1EUB, will be active from northern Scotland between
now and October 20th. Activity will be mainly on the satellites using
the callsign 2M1EUB/P. QSL via his home callsign 2E1EUB.

3V8, TUNISIA (JOTA Activity). Look for special event stations 3V8CB and
3V8ST to be active October 19-21st. Activity is to celebrate the 10th
anniversary of the Tunisia Scouts Amateur Radio Club. Activity will be
on all bands, mainly CW and SSB. QSL only via the bureau. "NO DIRECT
QSLs" with money/SAE please.

3Z50, POLAND (SPUTNIK Special Event). On October 4, 1957, at 07:28PM GMT,
the Soviet Union successfully launched SPUTNIK I. The world's first
man-made artificial satellite. Sputnik I was about the size of a basket-
ball, weighed only 84 kilogram, and was a sphere about 0.6 meters in
diameter. It took about 98 minutes to orbit the Earth on its elliptical
path. When Sputnik entered orbit, it opened the Space Age. To commemorate
this fact, a special event station 3Z50SPU was established by Roman, SQ2RH.
The station will be on the air until the end of October. A special QSL card
will be available after the event for all HAMS and SWL who made QSOs/SWLs
with a special event station 3Z50SPU. QSL via SQ2RH.

4N6, MONTENEGRO. Toby, DD5FZ, will be active as 4N6FZ from October 15-27th.
He will be a guest operator at the YT6A station and plans to take part in
the CQWW DX SSB and the WAG Contests. QSL via DD5FZ, direct or by the
bureau is "OK".

6C60, SYRIA (Reminder). Look for Syrian hams to use the special prefix
6C60 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of amateur radio in Syria during
the period October 15th to November 15th on all HF bands.

6W, SENEGAL. Boris, T93Y, reports, "After successfully passing the HAM
exam in Senegal, Jovica, T98A (ex.9K2/T94FC, ST0RM, ST2A, T94FC), has
received his 6W1SJ license today. As during previous activities, you can
expect most of his activities to be on CW, with some SSB and digital
modes." Jovica will stay in Senegal for at least two years with great
possibilities to activate other West Africa countries. QSL via T93Y:

6Y, JAMAICA. Operators David/KY1V, Filipe/CT1ILT, John/W2GB, Robert/W5AJ
Manu/LU9ESD and Gerald/W1VE will be active as 6Y1V between October
23-30th. QSL via OH3RB.

9U0A QRT. The 9U0A team went QRT Tuesday, October 9th at 0400z after
making some 33,500 QSOs. The team is now back in Germany. They report
that the pileups were huge until the end. They also regret that the team
couldn't be more active on 160m (and 80m). The team experienced thunder-
storms almost every day and this was the worst QRN they have ever heard
on any of their DXpeditions which made reception almost impossible. They
hope that the operation was able to provide you with a new one.

C5, THE GAMBIA (Reminder/Update). Members of the "Mosquitos Contest Club"
(known as OM0C Contest Crew) are expected to be active from here between
October 17-30th. The OM0C contest team will use the callsign C52C and C50C.
The operators mentioned a Rich/OM2TW, Bob/OM1KW, Joe/OM5AW, Roman/OM2RA,
Norbert/OM5NM, Dano/OM1NW and Jan/OM2XW. Activity will be on all HF bands
(160-10m) and 6m with an emphasis on the lower bands especially 160m.
During their DXpedition the team will try to activate Bijol Island
(AF-060). Currently, they already have a licence for Island, but still
don't have permission for landing. It must be done personally in Banjul.

C6, BAHAMAS. Alan, WQ5W, announces his upcoming DXpedition to Treasure Cay,
Abaco, Bahamas (IOTA NA-080, Grid Square FL16iq), October 25-31st. The
Bahamas Public Utilities Commission has issued him the callsign C6AQW.
The primary purpose of this trip is to operate as a 40m Single-Band/
Low-Power entry in the CQWW DX SSB Contest. Alan currently holds the
40m North American record in CQWW DX CW Contest as ZF2TG in 1992 and
hopes to break the existing North American 40m Low-Power CQWW DX SSB
Contest record during this operation. Outside the contest Alan will
concentrate mainly on 160/80/30/17/12 meters CW/SSB plus RTTY on all
bands. Alan says “I realize that C6 is not high on anybody's most-wanted
list, but I hope to be able to help DXers out with needed band/mode
countries to fill in C6 for their DXCC single band or mode or DXCC
Challenge Awards.” This DXpedition will be fully compatible with the
ARRL Logbook of The World. Logs will be uploaded to LoTW throughout the
DXpedition and immediately following its conclusion. Paper QSLs will
also be available via WQ5W direct with SASE or Greenstamp and via the

CN, MOROCCO. Anro, RV1AW, will be operating from the CN2R station as
CN2AW during the CQ World Wide CW DX Contest (November 24-25th) as a
Single-Op/Single-Band (20m) entry. QSL via RV1AW.

CT7, PORTUGAL (JOTA Activity). Operator Arlindo, CT1EGW, will be active
with the special callsign CT7EPO, October 19-21st. Activity is to celebrate
the Gold Jubilee of the JOTA Scout event (EPO stands for Escoteiros de
Portugal). QSL via his home callsign, direct or by the bureau.

E5, SOUTH COOK ISLANDS. OPDX received an E-mail late Friday from Bill,
N7OU, who is now active as E51NOU, stating (edited): "Arrived here on
Rarotonga on Monday, October 8th, and have logged about 2300 QSOs--all
on CW, of course. I've made most QSOs on 20 and 17m, with many grayline
openings to Europe. The 'Grinder' jamming signal takes out 40m early in
the evening, and condx on 30m have been marginal so far. For antennas,
I'm using an autotuner at the base of a 29 ft. wire supported by a 10m
pole, about 5m from the ocean. It won't load up on 80m, but performs
great on 40-10m. The other antenna is the 20m 2 element vertical Moxon
that Jim, E51JD, and I put up on Wed. It gives 2 S-units gain on 20m,
which is enough to pull in weaker stations I can't even hear on the other
antenna. It's no help on morning long path though..... My volunteer
service here begins tomorrow, but I'll have lots of spare time for radio
in the early morning and in the evening...... 73 de Bill N7OU/E51NOU"

EA8, CANARY ISLANDS (AF-004). Operators Jean/ON5JV and Georgette/ON6AK
will be active as EA8/homecall from Tijoco Bajo, Tenerife Island (S-012
for the Spanish Islands Award, WLOTA LH-1276), between December 1st and
January 31st (2008). Activity will be mainly on 20 and 40 meters during
their evenings. QSL via their home callsigns, bureau is preferred.

EK0, ARMENIA. Polish operators Leszek/SP9LJD and Kazimierz/SP6AXW will
be active as EK0B during the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October
27-28th) as a Multi/2 entry. QSL via SP9ERV, by the bureau or direct.

HI, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. Dani, EA4ATI, informs OPDX that he has moved
from Senegal (6W) to the Dominican Republic (HI), where he has been for
the past few months. He has received the callsign HI5/EA4ATI and his
location is Pedernales, the last city on the southwest end of Dominican
Republic on the border with Haiti (HH). QSL is via his home callsign.
For the time being, Dani has only a dipole antenna and 100 watts, but
he will make some noise during the next CQ Wide World DX SSB Contest
with the HI3CCP team. They will use the callsign HI3C from this

HI, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. Michele, IK5ZUI, is active as HI9/IK5ZUI from
Las Terrenas. The length of his stay is unknown at the moment. Currently
he is using a long wire antenna and only 50 watts. More details are
forthcoming.

HL9, SOUTH KOREA (JOTA Activity). In commemoration of the 50th anniversary
of Scouting Jamboree on the Air, HL9BSA (Yongsan Army Post, Seoul, Korea)
will be activated on Saturday, October 20th. QSL to WX8C.

HP, PANAMA (JOTA Activity). Members of the Radio Club de Panama will be
using the special event station callsign HP1RCP during the 2007 JOTA
Weekend from the Panama City National Scout Center, October 20-21st.
A special QSL will be used. QSL via HP1RCP.

HZ, SAUDI ARABIA. Thomas, HZ1EX, will be active in the CQ World Wide DX
SSB Contest (October 27-28th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. He will
operate at HZ1GW's QTH as HZ1GW or his own callsign. PLEASE NOTE: 80m
is not available in HZ-land! QSL HZ1GW via GW0RHC or HZ1EX via SM0BYD.

IOTA NEWS....................
EU-008. (Early Announcement) Colin, MM0NDX, states that he will
activate IOTA EU-008 for sure during the 2008 IOTA Contest
(July 26-27th). He will use the callsign MM0NDX/p but has
not yet decided which island he will activate:
Gigha Island (EU-008, IOSA NH-24, SCOTIA CS-23)
Kerrera Island (EU-008, IOSA FL-02, SCOTIA CN-02)
Colin will update the information in the coming year. QSL
direct only to his home callsign.

EU-137. Ric, DL2VFR, informed OPDX that the team closed the operation
down on October 13th with 6825 contacts from Ven Island. Please

not send a QSL to the SM-QSL-Bureau. They will not be answered.

NA-128. (Update/Zone 2 Op). Three members of the Magnolia DX Association
(MDXA) and two other operators will activate Orleans Island
(QC-007)as VE3ZF/2 (CW and SSB) and W5GED/VE2 (RTTY and PSK)
between October 18-21st. Also. look for them to be in the 2007
W/VE Islands QSO Party (October 20-21st) as VE2IDX. The group
will then head to Zone 2 (Port Cartier) and be active as VE2Z
for CQ World-Wide DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th). Operators
mentioned a Igor/VE3ZF/VE2IDX (MDXA - Team Leader), Ken/
VE3FDX, Travis/W5GED (MDXA), Bill/K5YG (MDXA) and Eugene/N2AA.

J48/SV8, GREECE (IOTA Op). A Hungarian team will be active using J48
and SV8/homecall callsigns from Thassos Island (EU-174), between October
24th and November 8th. They will operate on 80-10 meters plus 6 and 2
meters, using CW, SSB, BPSK31, MS and JT6M modes. Operators mentioned
a Gyuszi/HA2VR, Laci/HA6NL (J48NL), Zsolt/HA6PS (J48PS), Tibor/HA6ZV,
Al/HA7JJS (J48JJ) and Laci/HA7PL (J48PL). They will also take part in
the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th) as Multi-Single using
the J48RT callsign. Also, look for them to take part in the HA QRP Contest
(November 1-7th) and try to work in the Ukraine Contest too. For the first
time this year the group will make a trip to the Ypsario mountain, and
will be operating on 2 meters in the VHF Contest on November 2-4th. The
QTH will be Kazaviti, and the QRA locator is KN20HR. QSL via the HA QSL

KH3, JOHNSTON ISLAND. OPDX readers have been looking for an update on
Susan's, W7KFI, trip and activity from Johnston Island. Well here it is.
Susan informed OPDX this past weekend "It appears that the hurricane
season's strength was greatly overestimated....as Mark would say. So
if it stays down and no more come this way, I am planning on trying to
get out of here just after November 1st during first week of November.
Should be good weather then...trade winds should be in full force for
a nice down wind ride." If you do not know about Susan, she is a 73 years
old grandmother, Skipper of the USSV Dharma, and has been sailing all
over the Pacific. This amazing lady is an interesting story. It is highly
recommend to visit the following Web pages to see where she has been,

between October 24-30th. His activity will include an effort in the CQ

P4, ARUBA. Marty, W2CG, will be vacationing here between December 17-31st
and will be active as P40CG. He tells OPDX that "This time with a working
antenna. Operating time will be limited to early mornings/late evenings
(gotta keep XYL happy too)." His activity will be on 80-10 meters CW/SSB.

PA20, NETHERLANDS (Special Event). Look for members of the Netherlands
Airforce Radio Amateur Society (NAFRAS - PI4NAF) to be active as PA20NARAS
between November 3-19th. Activity will be on HF and VHF. This activity is
to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Society.

PA50, NETHERLANDS (JOTA Activity). Look for special event station PA50JOTA
to be active from Nieuweroord to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the

FR/F5TNI QSLS. Laurent, F1JKJ, reports that a few stations asked him
for help in the last months to get a confirmation from FR/F5TNI. He
states that he called Didier, F5TNI on the phone and was told that
he has lost the log in a hard-drive failure. Laurent says, "So no need
to try again, no confirmation seems possible."

V8NOM AND HS0/G3NOM QSLS. Tom, GM4FDM, reports: "As you may know I have
been Ray's QSL Manager for a number of years. Ray is extremely unwell
and unlikely to recover from a severe stroke/heart attack. Over the past
couple of years I have been able to respond to QSL requests to the above
callsigns, but now I am running out of cards for HS0/G3NOM and have no
cards for V8NOM. Before taking ill, Ray discussed the use of LOTW. I
have taken the liberty of uploading QSOs for both the above calls to
LoTW. I still have a few cards left so I am able to respond to a few
more requests for HS0/G3NOM. You may also be aware that the use of 160
and 80m was restricted in Thailand, so please do not ask me about QSOs
that are not in Ray's Log. I am unable to help. If it is NOT in LoTW
then it's simply not there. I cannot put it there. I still have all Ray's
other logs and plenty of blank cards. As the cards run out, I will upload

SU50, EGYPT. Look for special event (Golden Jubilee) station SU50JOTA
to be active during the Scout Jamboree On The Air (JOTA), October 20-21st.
The event is expected to have more than 500,000 people from over 100
countries participating in this year's JOTA. The SU50JOTA station will
be operational from the Cairo International Scout Centre. Activity will
be on 80/40/20/17/15 meters, CW and SSB. The SU50JOTA team members include

SU0, EGYPT. Mustapha, DL1BDF, will be attending a conference in Cairo
organized by a local ITU section. The subject of the conference will be
"How Amateur Radio can help handicapped persons to live". During his
stay in Cairo, Mustapha will be active during his spare time from the
SU0ARA ARC station between November 10-18th.

T6, AFGHANISTAN. Remember to look for John, KE6GFF, to be active as T6EE
from Kabul this week between October 18th and November 12th. It is
suggested to look for him on SSB on or about 14210 kHz. QSL via his home

TA3/TC3, TURKEY. Nikolay, LZ1NK, will be active as TA3/LZ1NK between
November 21-26th. He is also planning to be active as TC3A during the
CQ World Wide CW DX Contest (November 24-25th) as Single-Op/Single-Band
(40m)/Low-Power entry. Activity will be from the Asian region in Bursa,
Turkey. Skeds are "OK" before the contest at:

TX5, CLIPPERTON ATOLL (Update). The Clipperton 2008 team has added two
more operators to their team. Operators Jay/K4ZLE and Wayne/K8LEE have

VK9L, LORD HOWE ISLAND (OC-004). Remember to look for Haru, JA1XGI/W8XGI,
to be active as VK9GLX between October 19-22nd (only 3.5 days!). Activity
will be on 40/30/20 meters and possibly the lower bands. Modes will be
CW, SSB and Digital (RTTY, SSTV). QSL via JA1XGI (Bureau or direct) or
W8XGI (only direct).

VK9N, NORFOLK ISLAND (OC-005). Operator Jack, HB9TL/VK6CTL, will be active
as VK9CNF this week from October 19-25th. Activity will be mainly SSB on
80-10 meters. QSL direct to HB9QR.

VP2M, MONTSERRAT. Operators George/K2DM, Peter/K3ZM and Glen/W4GKA will
be active as VP2MDG, VP2MZM and VP2MKA, respectively, from October 24-30th.
The group will also be active as VP2MDG during the CQ World Wide DX SSB
Contest (October 27-28th) as a Multi/2 entry. Also, look for VP2MDG on
6m SSB and VP2MZM on 160m CW outside the contest. QSL to their home
callsigns.

VP8, SOUTH GEORGIA ISLAND. Lars, MM0DWF, will be active from Husvik (an
old whaling station) located on South Georgia Island (AN-007) as VP8DIF
from January 27th to February 28th, 2008. Activity will be on all bands,
depending on his work schedule. QSL via DJ9ZB, direct or by the bureau.

VP9, BERMUDA. Seppo, OH1VR, will once again be active as OH1VR/VP9
between November 24-27th. He plans to be active in the CQ World Wide CW
Contest (November 24-25th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (20m)/Low-Power
entry. QSL via his home callsign.

VP9, BERMUDA. John, OH3SR, will be active as VP9/OH3SR between November
23-27th. Activity will be on all bands CW, SSB and RTTY. This will be a
holiday style operation. John will also be active during the CQ World Wide
CW Contest (November 24-25th). He states, "I will try to give out multi-
pliers if needed. But I can work other modes also during the contest."

XW, LAOS. Larry, XW1A, will be active in the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest
(October 27-28th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (20m) entry. QSL via E21EIC.

ZL7, CHATHAM ISLAND. Ulli, DL2AH, continues with his Pacific Island tour
this week and is expected to be active from Chatham Island as ZL7/DL2AH
between October 16/17-30th. Using his FT-897 with a loop antenna, look
for him to be on 40-10 meters SSB only. Ulli's last stop on his Pacific
tour will be Norfolk Island. Look for him to use the callsign VK9ANH
between November 1-15th. QSL all of his Pacific operations via DL2AH.
