2008 DAYTON CONTEST UNIVERSITY (CTU). Well-known contester guru Tim Duffy,
K3LR, announced the following: "The 2008 Dayton Contest University will
be held all day on May 15th, 2008, in Dayton, Ohio, at the Crowne Plaza
Hotel in downtown Dayton. The Contest University Web site will be updated
soon. Registration will open in December (about 4 weeks from now). There
will be separate tracks (classes) for first year (did not attend in 2007)
and second year (attended in 2007) students." Stay tuned to this reflector

5J0/HK0, SAN ANDRES (Update). Operators Tom/K3WT, Vlad/N0STL, Bill/W0OR
and Ron/N0AT will be active as HK0/homecall from November 20-26th. The
team will also participate in the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 24-25th)

5T, MAURITANIA. Andreas, DL7ZZ, informs OPDX that a German team is planning
a DXpedition to Nouakchott, Mauritania, between March 16-30th (2008). The
current team of operators a Rich/DK8YY, Rene/DL2JRM, Ralf/DL3JJ, Ingolf/
DL4JS, Dan/DL5SE and Andreas/DL7ZZ. All team members are well-known for
their DXpeditions and contesting, and they would like to provide 5T as
a new one to those who need it. Operating location will be nearby the
Atlantic Sea, so there will be enough space for their antenna systems
especially for the low bands. The team is expecting their license very
soon. They plan to have 3 stations on the air; 2 with amplifiers. For
operations on the low bands 2 verticals (V160 and V80) will be errected,
and on 40m they will use 2 phased verticals. For 30-10 meters, they will
set up 2 beams, and for the digital station there will be another ground-
plane. They will try to have an online log available that will be updated
daily via I-net or pactor. A Web page will be updated with all informations

6E, REVILLAGIGEDO (Update). As this bulletin was being written, OPDX was
informed by Tony, XE1GRR, Pilot Station for 6E4LM DXpedition, that on
November 17th at 0200z, the team was leaving the port of Manzanillo,
on board the ship "Manzanillo" and was heading towards Clarion Island
(IOTA NA-115). From Tony's press release, the team expects to arrive on
Tuesday, November 20th at 1400z and expects to start passing out 6E4LM
QSOs around 1500-1600z. They will remain on Clarion Island approximately
24 hours. While operating, the ship will continue on to Socorro Island to
drop off food and fuel before returning to Clarion on Wednesday, November
21st. They will leave Clarion Island around 1400z and expect to arrive on
Socorro Island on Thursday, November 22nd (approx. at 1400-1500z). The
team will remain on Socorro Island for approx. 30 days, airing the
callsigns 6E4LM, XF4YK and XF4YW. To read unedited updates and news,

6W, SENEGAL (Update). Jovica, T98A (ex.9K2/T94FC, ST0RM, ST2A, T94FC),
who received his 6W1SJ license, will be active during the CQ World Wide
DX CW Contest (November 24-25th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (40m)/Low-

Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bureau and E-mail requests are OK or
). Jovica will stay in Senegal for at least two years with
great possibilities to activate other West Africa countries. Outside of
the contest, look for him to be active on CW with some SSB and digital
modes.

A3, TONGA. Dr. Tomas, VK2CCC, will be active as A35MT between November
20-26th. His main activity will be on the low bands (mostly CW) and the
CQ World Wide DX CW Contest (November 24-25th) as Single-Op entry. His
primary QTH will be on the Tongatapu Island Group (OC-049). He is planning
to take verticals or a combined trap vertical for 160/80/40 meters, a
separate dipole for 160m and a pile of wire antennas for the other bands.
Tomas states, "A35 licence allows only 100w on 160m, so if you are in
Europe, you'll need GOOD receiving antennas to hear anything at all. And

AFRICA AND SOUTHWESTERN TOUR. Well-known DXer Kan, JA1BK, will be visiting
Southwestern Europe and Africa between December 4-13th. He might be showing
up on the air time permitting in his busy schedule. Look for him as
F/JA1BK from the Bordeaux area, EA3/KH6BK from Barcelona, side visit to
Gibraltar (activity unlikely), then EA7/KH6BK. Paul, F6EXV, plans to join
him and both will attend the Spanish URE DX Convention in San Fernando.
On December 10th and 11th, Kan, along with Paul, will be visiting Juan,
EA9IE, and might take the mike and/or the key, signing EA9/KH6BK and

AH2, GUAM. Members of the Guam Contest Club will be active as AH2R during
the CQ World Wide DX CW Contest (November 24-25th) as a Multi-Single entry.

C5, THE GAMBIA (Update). Jan, PA4JJ, will once agin be active as C56JJ
between November 30th and December 11th (not December 7th as first
announced). This will be a holiday style operation. Jan informs OPDX that
he will only use 100 Watts (FT-897) and the antenna will be a vertical
and a ZS6BKW. There may be some topband and 6 meter activity. QSL via

at least 2 USDs, but if you want to spend some money for the school project

C6, BAHAMAS (Update). Operators Fredrick/KE7X and Tom/N6BT will be active
from Eleuthera Island (NA-001) between November 18-26th. Activity is
planned for the CQ World Wide DX CW Contest (November 24-25th). Look for
Fredrick to be active as C6AKX as a Single-Op/Single-Band (20m)/Low-Power
entry, and Tom (callsign TBD) to be a Single-Op/Single-Band (160m) entry.

C6, BAHAMAS. Remember Kenny, K2KW, will be active as C6ATA between November
18-26th. Activity will include participation in the CQWW DX CW Contest

refuge, a compatibility study has to be done to determine the effect on

SANTA CLAUS LAND TO BE ON THE AIR! Juha, OH9MM, informs OPDX readers:
"As we all know the real Santa Claus comes from Finland! Santa Claus Land
(OH9SCL) will be again active during this December from the Artic circle.
Activity will be on 160-10 meters on CW, SSB and the Digital modes." Among
others, Santa's helpers will include: OH3BHL, OH9KL, OH9MDV, OH9MM and

T8, PALAU. Yoshi, JK2VOC, will be active as T88IW from Koror (OC-009)
between November 23-26th. Activity will include the CQ World Wide DX CW

T8, PALAU. Look for Koki, JE1PGS, a 13 year old junior high school student,
will activate T88GS from here with his father, Yutaka, T88YU/JQ2GYU, and

TA, TURKEY. Ozer, TA2RC, will be active during the CQ World Wide DX CW

TZ, MALI. Mac, TZ6JA, will once again return here for a work assignment
between November 22nd and December 14th and plans to be active. Between
December 1-12th, Mac will move to a small village 150km east of capital
of Bamako because of his work. There is no electricity in this area, so
there will be fewer noises on the bands. He will bring a 1.5kWH generator
to operate a 500w amplifier. He will put up a two 2 element phased vertical
for 75m and 40m, and a 7 element Log-Periodic antenna for 20/17/15 meters.

V5, NAMIBIA. Klaus, DJ4SO, will be active from the Matunda Guestfarm in
northern Namibia as V5/DJ4SO between now and December 3rd. Activity will
be on 160-6 meters, CW, RTTY, PSK31 and some SSB. He will also be in the
CQ World Wide DX CW Contest (November 24-25th) as a Single-Op entry.

VP5, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS. OCARC Member Bob/K0OK and Dale/KB7UB will
be active as VP5/K0OK and VP5/KB7UB, respectively, from Providenciales
(NA-002), December 6-11th. Activity will be on 160-6 meters CW and SSB.
They will also be operating in the ARRL 10 Meter Contest as VP5E (K0OK)

XW, LAOS. Bruce, AA4XR (HS0ZCY, XU7ADF), informs OPDX that he recently
shut down operations from Florida (AA4XR) and moved to Laos. He states,
"I have been issued the XW1B and plan on being active on all bands/modes
with an emphasis on low band CW/RTTY." Bruce was very active this past

YB, INDONESIA. Operator Pri, YB0ECT, will be active during the CQ World
Wide DX CW Contest (November 24-25th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (20m)/

YI, IRAQ. It was announced this past week that the government of Iraq
will reopen the amateur radio service on November 20th. Scott, AD7MI,
states that he will be active as YI9MI from November 20th to May 15th
(2008) from the U.S. Army Camp in Taji. Activity will be on 80-10 meters,
