E5 - SOUTH COOK ISLANDS, OC-013
Nigel,G4KIU, has moved to Rarotonga (OC-013). He is working as E51SC in
SSB/RTTY/PSK31/some CW on 80m-10m. QSLs via bureau to G4KIU or direct
to Nigel Peacock, PO Box 880, Rarotonga, Cook Islands via New Zealand.
He is also uploading his log data to the LoTW once a week.

GD - ISLE OF MAN, EU-116
GB5LB is a special event station on the Isle of Man (EU-116) which
remembers the work of the "Royal National Lifeboat Institute".
GB5LB will be activated on Jun 4 and July 4/12/26.

Port St Mary, Isle of Man IM9 5EF, Great Britain.

JW - SVALBARD, EU-026
Jan,OK1JK, Jiri,OK1JST, Pavel,OK1IPS, and Jiri,OK1IEC, are members of
a Czech Polar DXpedition to Longyearbyen on Spitsbergen (EU-026,
WLOTA 0125) taking place from Jun 5-15. They will sign JW/homecall

OE - AUSTRIA
The "Vienna International Centre Amateur Radio Club" (4U1VIC) will show
up as 4U1WED during the "World Environment Day" in June. This year the
Vienna International Centre celebrates its 30th anniversary and thus
uses the call 4U30VIC from July until December.
QSL cards for both calls should be sent via the OE bureau to 4U1VIC.

VP9 - BERMUDA ISLANDS, NA-005
Alex,VP9/W5YDX, will be on the Bermudas (NA-005) from Jun 10-24. He
will work holiday style focussing on 20m (14140-14265 kHz) and 17m
using 100 watts and dipoles. QSL via homecall.

ZD8 - ASCENSION ISLAND, AF-003
Dean,KJ4GNB, is staying on Ascension Island (AF-003) right now and has
been heard as ZD8DC in SSB on 20m. The length of his stay is not known.
QSL cards should be sent via bureau to his homecall.

8Q - MALDIVE ISLANDS, AS-013
Tom,PF4T, will be active as 8Q7TB from Embudu Island (AS-013) from
Jun 8-25. Tom works in SSB on 20m/40m using a FT897 and a G5RV antenna.
QSLs direct via Tom Braam, Hondsrug 210, 8251 VB Dronten, Netherlands

CT - PORTUGAL
Anacom, the Portuguese agency for the amateur radio service, has
published new legislation which will also impact the callsign structure
of Portuguese (Portugal, Madeira and the Azores) callsigns. The new
prefix block will be allocated starting with June 1, 2009. Each area
will have four blocks (old calls under old legislation, new calls under
new legislation, club calls and special calls):
Portugal:
block 1: CT1, CT2, CT4, CT5
block 2: CR7, CS7, CT7
block 3: CQ0, CS5
block 4: CQ7, CR5, CR6, CS2
Madeira:
block 1: CT3
block 2: CR9, CS9, CT9
block 3: CQ2, CS3
block 4: CQ3, CQ9, CR3
Azores:
block 1: CU1, CU2, CU3, CU4, CU5, CU6, CU7, CU8, CU9, CU0
block 2: CR8, CS8, CT8
block 3: CQ1, CS4
block 4: CQ8, CR1, CR2
Callsigns from block 1 (CT1/2/4/5, CT3, CU) will no longer be issued.
Current hams will keep these calls if they like or submit to a new exam
to have the new prefixes (CR/CS/CT7, CR/CS/CT8, CR/CS/CT9). New hams
will have block 2. Club stations will have calls in block 3 (CQ0/CS5,
CQ2/CS3, CQ1/CS4) and special occasion and contest calls will be from
block 4 (CQ7/CR5/CR6/CS2, CQ3/CQ9/CR3, CQ8/CR1/CR2).

CANADA, SPECIAL EVENT STATION
The Westcoast Amateur Radio Association will be QRV as VE7IYOA during
the month of June. Their QTH is Victoria/British Columbia marking the
International Year of Astronomy. Their main activity will be during the
weekands and in the upcoming ARRL Field Day (Jun 27/28). QSL to VE7DAO.

FRANCE, SPECIAL EVENT STATIONS
F/ON6JUN/p is working on the HF bands from Jun 3-8. They remember the
65th anniversary of the "D-Day" on Jun 6,1944, when the Allied forces
landed in the Normandy in WW2. QSL via ON5SD.

A team from the Netherlands is also active as F/PA65DDAY on 80m/40m/20m
from Jun 5-8. QSL via bureau to PA0HFT.

GREECE, SPECIAL EVENT STATION
This 65th anniversary is also an event for the Greek radio amateurs
to activate the special callsign SY2DDAY from Jun 4-7.
Unfortunately QSLs only direct via SV2KBB.

IRELAND, SPECIAL EVENT STATION
Members of the "Galway Radio Experimenters Club" can be found on the
bands signing EI09VOR in CW/SSB until Jun 6. This call draws attention
to the "Volvo Ocean Yacht Race" which takes place in Galway. The QTH of
EI09VOR is the Mutton Island lighthouse (IRE 107). QSL via EI8DD.

THE NETHERLANDS, SPECIAL EVENT STATION
The special event station PA6JEROEN celebrates the reopening of the
800-year-old bell tower of St Jeroenskerk (St. George’s Church) in
Noordwijk from Jun 4-14. The station will be operated from the tower
on HF and VHF on Jun 5 and Jun 12. The suffix Jeroen stands for the
Scottish monk who came to Noordwijk in 847 and built a chapel in 857.
He brought Christianity to Western Holland and was later killed by

UKRAINE, SPECIAL EVENT STATIONS
Several members of the "Rivne DX Club" are signing EN50KSR between
Jun 1 and July 5. EN50KSR celebrates the 50th anniversary of the

EM15DIG will be active from the Ukraine during the months of June and
July. Reason for that is the 15th birthday of the Ukrainian section

70 MHz band assigned to amateur radio in Slovakia

Roman,OM3EI, president of the Slovakian Amateur rRadio Association SARA,
reports that radio amateurs in Slovakia gained access to the 70 MHz band
on May 1, 2009. Amateur radio operation is allowed from 70.250-70.350 MHz
with 10 watts EIRP for Extra Class only. Each station must apply for a
special permission to operate on 70 MHz.
