4U1, ITU HQ (Topband Activity). A report from RSGB President Colin Thomas,
G3PSM, states: "4U1ITU will be active during the CQWW CW Contest at the
end of November and there will be a 160m operation. Currently there is no
160m operation due to the very high noise level from computers both from
within the main ITU building itself, but also from surrounding inter-
national organizations. It is understood that a Titanex V160 has been
promised from a Japanese source, and it is hoped that time can be found
during the week preceding the contest to get the antenna up on the flat
roof of the 5 storey Varembe building. However, most of the operators
and helpers will be taking part in WRC-12 preparatory meetings during
that week. A Multi Single operation is currently planned for the contest."

4W, TIMOR-LESTE. By the time you read this, Al, 4W6AL (CT1GPQ), will be
QRT (September 27th) and will be heading home. The Algarve STAR DX Team
has updated the log and it can be found on: http://algarvedx.com

6Y1V YOUNG HAM EASSAY DEADLINE (September 30th). David, KY1V, reports
on September 26th: "In just four short days we will be selecting 4 young
hams to join us this year for CQWW at 6Y1V. We are very excited this
year as we have received essays from every continent, from age 9 through
21, and from both boys and girls! I have previewed many of the essays
and I can already say it is going to be very difficult to select just 4
young hams. If you wish to be considered for this years' CQWW SSB or CW
contest, you have only 4 days to submit your essay. I would like to thank
all of the young hams that sent essays this year and their parents for
putting their trust and faith in Stacy, Krassy and I. Please be sure to
work the all Young Ham 6Y1V station in CQWW this year!"

AT10, ANTARCTICA. Bhagwati, VU3BPZ, will once again head to the Antarctica
with the 29th Indian Antarctic Expedition (IAE). The crew has just finished
their pre-Antarctic training and medical checks. The team is expected to

and March 2011. Bhagwati is expected to be on the air from the Maitri Base
(WAP IND-03) using his personal callsign VU3BPZ and also a special callsign

had, but one was repaired). FT5GA was active during the CQWW DX RTTY
