ARLX014 King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej, HS1A (SK)
Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX), HS1A, died on October 13,Â*after a
long period of declining health. Born in Cambridge,Â*Massachusetts, while
his physician father was at Harvard University,Â*the king, whose name
translated as strength of the land,Â*incomparable power, was 88.
According to noted DXer Fred Laun, K3ZO/HS0ZAR, the king was neverÂ*very
active on the air, and, to my knowledge, the only QSOs he everÂ*made were
from a handheld on 2 meter FM. He said HS1A was oftenÂ*pictured using a
handheld. He also was pictured with a camera, asÂ*photography was one of his
passions, and he was a jazz enthusiast,Â*who played the saxophone.
The Radio Amateur Society of Thailand (RAST), the countrys IARUÂ*member
society, said on its website that the king was presented theÂ*call sign HS1A
by the Ministry of Communications at ChitrladaÂ*Palace in 1989 in a ceremony
witnessed by RAST officers. He was theÂ*ninth monarch of the Chakri Dynasty,
having ascended to the throneÂ*in June of 1946, and was the worlds
longest-reigning monarch.

Learn FPGA basics, 5G and RFI, the Ohm in Ohms Law

Here are some more interesting articles from the electronics engineering
trade magazines:

The principles of FGPAs. Field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) were
introduced more than three decades ago, and since then they have evolved,
giving way to new generations of FPGAs with better logic density and
performance that can be used in a broader range of applications.
What 5G engineers can learn from radio interference’s troubled past.Â*The
last—and only—radio innovator having no reason to think about interference
was Heinrich Hertz, when he fired up the world’s first radio transmitter in
1886. Once he turned on a second one, he created the potential for
interference. It’s been a problem ever since.
The Munich discovery without which Silicon Valley may never have been born:
A resistance story.Â*Georg Simon Ohm, a mathematician and physicist, was
born in Bavaria on 18th March 1789. He became fascinated by electricity
shortly after electromagnetism was discovered in 1820. At the time, current
was measured by measuring the magnetic flux around a wire conductor.
