60 METERS NEWS (QSOs Not Valid). Francisco "Siso" Hennessey, HK3W, ARRL
DXCC Card Checker, reports the following [edited]: Operation on the 60
meter band is not allowed in Colombia (5J, 5K, HJ, HK), as well as San
Andrés Island (5J0, 5K0, HJ0, HK0). There's no permit to use that band
by any Ham Radio station transmitting from Colombia or San Andrés. The
Colombian Authorities have never issued the permit to use that band.
There are few DX Bulletins announcing 60 meter band operations from San
Andrés, and it is forbidden by Colombian Law. Please take note that if
someone transmits on that band, it will be illegal and not valid.

7P8, LESOTHO (Update/QRT). Gene, K5GS, sent out the following press release
on February 22nd, for Pista, HA5AO, who was active as 7P8EUDXF from Lesotho
for humanitarian purposes during the month of February [edited]: Pista,
HA5AO, is operating from the Molangoane Lodge, near Ha Ntsi. The lodge is
located on a plateau with no high mountains nearby. The take off to the N
and NW it is clear. The NE to JA is slightly blocked by a mountain, but it
is far enough away to not cause too much of a problem. He is using a K3
with KPA 500. The antenna is a wire vertical on a 10 meter fiberglass pole
with a remote controlled SGC 250 auto tuner. There are 12 x 10.5 meter
radials with a copper ground rod. It can be tuned from 80 to 10 m, sorry
no TB capability this trip due to high noise levels. The noise is s6 s9
on the low bands making the copy impossible and s3 s5 on the higher bands
where copy is difficult. RFI is not a problem, at least no complaints from
the lodge management. He received a Busted call request claiming QSOs on
20th February between 15:10 and 16:27. He was not operating at that time,
probably a pirate. He is operating in his free time from the orphanage
project. The last operating time will be this Saturday morning when he
will disassemble the station. He departs for Budapest on Sunday morning.
The log is at: http://ha5ao.com Logsearch & OQRS

REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE http://www.bandconditions.com:
The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual
(REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for
Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of
benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets
and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre-
dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called "HF Ionospheric Interferometry"
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.

July 1-9th. Activity will be holiday style on 40-10 meters (including
30/17/12m), and all modes (CW/SSB/RTTY), using a K3S running 100 watts
into a Buddipole antenna. They will also be in the IARU HF World Champion-
ship Contest (July 8-9th) as V4/KE1B as a Multi-Single entry. If they
have Internet access, they will probably upload logs to ClubLog daily.
You can check your QSO status and request a QSL card via the Online QSL
Request System (OQRS). Direct QSLs are via their home callsign (see QRZ.com
for details). Also, by the Bureau, LoTW and eQSL.

VP2V, BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS. Kevin, K6TOP, will once again be active
as VP2V/K6TOP from Tortola, British Virgin Islands (NA-023), between
now and March 3rd. Activity will be limited (family vacation) using
an ICOM 706 MKII with 100 watts into a End-Fed Half-Wave (EFHW) (for
40/30/20/17/15/10m). Operations will be CW almost exclusively. Operating
hours are typically 0100-0300z and 1000-1200z due to family commitments.
Kevin mentioned last time, "When the pileups get difficult, I listen to
the edges, so please spread your calls out." QSLs via LoTW (preferred)
or NR6M. NO Bureau cards. Log will be uploaded to LoTW and ClubLog upon
return.

VP2V, BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS. Bill, K2WH, will be active as VP2V/K2WH
from Tortola, British Virgin Islands, between March 4-10th. He states
that he will be aboard the sailboat "Magic Carpet" and to please work
him and spot him. QSL via his home callsign, direct, by the Bureau or
LoTW.

VP2V, BRITISH VIGRIN ISLANDS. Operators Art/N3DXX and Steven/AA7V will
once again be active as VP2V/homecall from Virgin Gorda (Tortola) between
November 23-29th. Activity will be on 160-10 meters using CW and SSB.
They will also be in the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 25-26th) as a
Multi-Single entry. Contest callsign has not be announced (it will probably
be VP2V/AA7V). QSL VP2V/N3DXX and VP2V/AA7V via NR6M. NO BUREAU CARDS OR
CARDS SENT TO HOME ADDRESSES. THEY WILL NOT BE ANSWERED!!

VP5, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS. Glenn, W0GJ, will be active as VP5H from
Providenciales Island (NA-002, WLOTA 2003) during the ARRL DX SSB Contest
(March 4-5th) as a Single-Op entry. QSL via W0CG. Look before and after
the contest because he will probably be active as VP5/homecall. QSL via
his home callsigns and LoTW. NO Bureau at Turks & Caicos (QSLs will be
tossed!).

VP5, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS. Operators Jim/K3NK and Joe/W3HNK will be
active as VP5/K3NK and VP5/W3HNK, respectively, from Providenciales Island
(NA-002, WLOTA 2003) between April 11-18th. Activity will be on 80-10
meters using CW and SSB. QSL VP5/K3NK via W3HNK, ClubLog or LoTW. QSL
VP5/W3HNK via W3HNK.

VQ9, CHAGOS. Jeremy, N1ZZZ, will once again try to be active as VQ9ZZ
from Diego Garcia (AF-006) sometime between late April and mid-June
(subject to change). He was there in December, but did not operate and
states, "I have renewed my VQ9ZZ license, but since the club shack is
gone, I didn't get to work from the island this trip. I am hoping to
bring the proper equipment for some 'field day' style operating in April
2017.... The club station (VQ9X) has dismantled a few years ago, so the
few of us left to operate there have to bring portable set ups ashore
which makes for challenging operating conditions, especially with the
bands such as they are." He informs OPDX that he will operate this time
on 20/17 meters, SSB and various low power Digital modes using a Icom
IC-7100 transceiver with wire vertical antenna. There may be some oper-
ations as VQ9ZZ/MM (not for DXCC credit) from the ship when underway
using same modes/bands and better antenna. QSL via his home callsign,
direct, by the Bureau or LoTW.

ZF2, CAYMAN ISLANDS (Update). Operators Royce/KE5TC (ZF2TC) and Fred/K5QBX
(ZF2FL) will be operating daily from Grand Cayman Island between March
21-26th. They state, "We will be operating SSB, CW, and Digital various
hours of the day and welcome DX style contacts or ragchew style as well."
QSL via their home callsigns.
