From here in England, the condx on the North Atlantic path have been
the worst I can ever remember during a CQ WW Contest. However, in
other directions it has not been too bad, for example Southeast Asia,
Indian Ocean, Pacific, S. America and Africa have all been coming in
at reasonable strength. But no JA's.

No JA ? There are a lot !
Do you have tried working our JA OMs when they were waked up at least ? ;-)
This shift is important
Even not the strongest ?

By far the loudest USA sig on 14 MHz is W1GQ. He is head and
shoulders above all the usual East Coast "big guns". Stations like
KC1XX and K1RX are really weak ... very strange.

Wkd T88AA on 14 MHz for a new one!
:-)

I did not hear one JA in the whole weekend.

Here stateside several JA's made it over the pole to Alabama. I made all my
contact on 20. Usually 15 is the band of choice for that path. But with
the cycle dropping like a rock...well you know.

Lots of JAs worked here in Washington. I didn't work all that many
europeans, but most of those I did work were OHs.

Regarding the OH signals. I have noticed that even when conditions are
generally poor I can work into OH land. Very unstable signals tho. About
like the stations from Asiatic Russia.

Alabama is a good spot to work the world from. If you don't mind the
thunder storms...hi.
