Six Meters (50 MHz) Stories

Pat W5OZI made it into Japan tonight from Texas. The guys on the dxers.info
chat were saying that the contact most likely was 5 hop sporadic E due to
the band conditions and the numbers seem to support that theory. (Hopping
over water helps)

Long Es distances! W5OZI (EM00cl) - JG2BRI (PM74aa) = 10,888 km (if grids
correct): maybe longest ever Es. de W3EP

--------------------------------------------

Six Meters was quiet all day here in Southern California, then at around
0000 UTC, a SE Kansas station came through on 50.125 MHz. Then two more SE
KS stations were contacted, 10 minutes later -- all was quiet again. The KS
stations were within about a 75 mile radius. Pipeline ??

Hours later an Alaskan station was contacted. About 2200 miles

----------------------------------------------------------

1515 UTC (8:00 AM PDT) Two stations were contacted from So. Calif to Western
New York. About 2500 miles

--------------------------

Except for the TX to JA contact, common enough I suspect, but just a heads
up that the Magic Band is open from time to time

Ah The Magic Band - Listen 50.125 MHz
