What's This Noise On 20M?
Hi gang -
I recently returned to 20M CW and am hearing a noise reminiscent of the old "Russian Woodpecker", only with a faster repetition rate. It seems to move around the low end of the CW band and isn't locally generated because I can hear propagation effects on it. Or are these old ears hearing things? 73 Don K6LTS |
Lots of digital signals on the bands these days -- To hear the various modes

I didn't realize anyone was running OTHR (Over The Horizon Radar) any longer since the "Woodpecker" went QRT. Don K6LTS |

Yep I remember the OTHR woodpecker -- Kenwood even designed a noise blanker
for it (I think) Haven't heard any thing like it since (Thank Goodness) -- 73 From The Signal In The Noise Caveat Lector Ya All wrote in message ... It's probably an M3 licencee from the UK. These are freebie licences issued to CBer's in this country which allow them free access to the ham bands. If you feel aggrieved about this abuse of the amateur radio spectrum (and many of us do) then you should address your concerns to the RSGB, who are primarily responsible for the creation of this new licencing plan. The fact that they expect to receive large amount of subscriber income from this scheme is of course entirely coincidental . . . Young Nick |

Hmmm...wonder if I can operate CW on Echolink; probably the only place left that hasn't been QRMed by outside sources...but then, is Echolink really ham radio? Maybe a WAN award?
