3A, MONACO (News). Claude Passet, 3A2LF, Secretary of the IARU Society -
the Association des Radiamateurs de Monaco (A.R.M.), announced that
effective January 26, 2006, amateur radio operators from the "Principality
of Monaco" have the following new frequency allocations:
160 meters - 1850-2000 MHz
1810-1850 MHz (Primary exclusive)
1850-2000 MHz (Secondary shared)
6 meters - 50.000-52.000 MHz
50.000-51.200 MHz
51.200-52.000 MHz (Secondary shared)
4 meters - 70.000-70.500 MHz StatusSecondary shared)
PLEASE NOTE: The 135.7-137.8 MHz segment has been conceded to the Amateur
Radio Service in Monaco for several years (Status: Secondary shared).

3D2/R, ROTUMA ISLAND (Update). Operators Will/N7OU (3D2RO) and Rob/W7YAQ
(3D2RX), who were expected to be active between March 1-10th, had their
flight delayed/cancelled and are still on the Fiji Islands. Their activity
will include a Multi-Single entry in the ARRL DX SSB Contest (March 4-5th)
as 3D2RX. Reports indicate that they may be able to fly to Rotuma on
March 6th. QSL via their home callsign, direct or by the bureau.

6W, SENEGAL. Jacques, F6BEE, will be active as 6W1RW in the CQWW WPX SSB
Contest (March 25-26th) as Single-Op/All-Band/High Power entry (Possibly
SO2R). QSL via F6BEE. He inoforms OPDX that he will be there on March 21st
very early in the morning and leave on next Monday, March 27th, in the
evening to catch a plane at 02:00 A.M. Jacques will be on all the usual
contest bands as the antennas are already installed (KT36XA at 19m, 2
element 40 at 21m, 2 element wire beam on 80m at 18m and 160m dipole).
However, if he has some time left and can find a place, he will temporary
put up a R-7000 for the WARC bands.

6Y, JAMAICA. Tomas, LY1DF, will be active as 6Y5/LY1DF from March 12-18th.
Activity will be on 40-15 meters CW only. QSL via LY1DF, Bureau only.

9A, CROATIA. Zrinko (Zik), VE3ZIK, will once again be active from Bilice
(JN73WS at Adriatic Coast) between March 17-28th (approx.) as 9A/VE3ZIK.
He will be active in the Russian DX Contest and CQ WW WPX SSB Contest.
Outside of the contests, he will be active mostly on the WARC bands and
will be waiting for any 10m FM opening on 29.600 MHz. QSL via DL3PS; by

ANTARCTICA. Dmitry, UR8UC, will be using the special callsign EM1UC from
the Ukrainian Antarctic DX Club (UADXC) station (EM1U) from the Akademik
Vernadsky Base station until February 2007. His activity will be on CW,
SSB and the Digital modes.

CT3, MADEIRA ISLANDS. Operators Rosel/DL3KWR and Hardy/DL3KWF will be
active again as CT3/DL3KWR and CT3/DL3KWF, respectively, March 9-23th.
Activity will be mostly CW and on the WARC bands. QSL via their home

DXCC NEWS. Bill Moore, NC1L, ARRL DXCC Branch Manager, informs OPDX that
the following operations are approved for DXCC credit:
D2DX - Angola; Current operation effective December 15th, 2004
T6X - Afghanistan; Current operation effective March 8th, 2005
TS3A - Tunisia; March 24-28th, 2005
TT8PK - Chad; December 27th, 2005, through February 11th, 2006
XW1A, XW1LLR5, XW1X and XW1M - Laos; Current operation effective
October 29th, 2005

DZ, PHILIPPINES (Special Event). A group of Filipino and Japanese hams
will be operating with the special callsign DZ1JP to celebrate the 50th
anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippine (DU) and Japan
(JA). The year 2006 is called the Philippine-Japan Friendship Year. Look
for activity on 160m and EME on 6 and 2 meters. QSL Manager is JA1HGY.
Operation will be from March 10-12th.

ED8/EF8, CANARY ISLANDS. Operators Edu/EA8AUW (EC8AUA), Peter/EC8/74182
and possibly others from the Canary Islands will be active as ED8CLL,
Sunday, March 19th, from the "Castle of La Luz" in Las Palmas de Gran
Canaria, Capital city of Gran Canaria Island (IOTA AF-004). This castle
will be activated for the first time on the air with the reference valid
for the "Spanish Historic Monuments Award" (DMHE MGC 013). Activity will
be on 20-10 meters with 17 meters included. The team also plans to be
active a little on PSK and RTTY. They will also use a secondary callsign
EF8CLL (Restringed) on 15 meters below 21200 kHz. QSLs will be sent out

FR/G, GLORIOSO ISLAND. Rafik, F5CQ, sent out a press release this week
indicating the following: "Lasted news - We have got from Reunion Head
Quarter a conditional clearance to organize our expedition onto Glorioso
Islands (IOTA AF-011). However, regarding the sanitary situation over
Indian Ocean and Chikungounya disease, we will not take any risk. Therefore,
the decision to postpone this operation up to October or November seems

FP, ST. PIERRE & MIQUELON. Juergen, DJ2VO, will be active from the Island
of Miquelon, May 5-20th. His callsign was not provided. Activity will be
CW only on 80-10 meters with 100 watts into a Vertical Antenna. QSL via
his home callsign.

GP0, GUERNSEY. Ron/G4DIY (GP0STH), and Lee/G0DBE will be active from here
starting around 1000z March 10th, as GP0STH. Their bands and modes of
activity were not provided. QSL via G4DIY.

H44 & P29, SOLOMON ISLANDS AND PAPUA NEW GUINEA. Reports indicate that
Bernhard, DL2GAC, is once again heading to the Pacific for about 2 months.
It has been announced that he will be active as H44MS from the Solomon
Islands, now through March 12th. He will then be active as P29VMS from
Papua New Guinea (PNG) until late March or early April. He plans to
activate a few IOTA groups while in PNG, including Bougainville Island
(OC-135), the Shortland Islands (OC-162) and possibly others. QSL via

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MARTTI, OH2BH. Many DXers over the past week heard
Martti, OH2BH, active as V31BH from Belize. His operation also included
activity in the ARRL DX SSB Contest this past weekend. By the time you
read this Martti should be QRT from Belize. QSL V31BH via OH2BH. However,
excerpts from a press release by Jarmo, OH2BN, this past week also indicate
that OH2BH will be celebrating his 60th birthday later this year. Jarmo
also states: "The past decades include some 45 years of making DX and
providing elusive DX counters to those in need. The years also include
more than three decades of happy marriage to Leena, OH2BE - and now a
first grandchild due in May. Martti will become a Grandpa DXer."

Also, the Finnish Telecom Authority has released/issued the callsign
OH60BH (OH-sixty-BH) to be used on the air starting March 2006.

HB20, SWITZERLAND. Nick, HB9DDZ, President of DIG Section Switzerland,
informs OPDX that between March 8th and June 7th, the DIG Section of
Switzerland will celebrate their 20th anniversary. During this time
they will activate the special event station HB20DIG (HB-twenty-DIG).
It will be the first time that the prefix HB20 will be aired. If you
work HB20DIG two times, you can apply for the W-DIG-HB Award by sending
a copy of your log and 5 USDs or 5 Euros to the following address:
DIG Section Switzerland " DIPLOM", Postfach 217, CH - 5080 Laufenburg,
Switzerland. The awards will go out after the end of this event. All
QSLs will go out automaticlly via the bureau.

HH, HAITI. Operators Jan/K4QD (HH4/K4QD) and Bill/W4WX (HH4/W4WX) will
be in here from March 20-31st. They plan to be active on all modes on
80-10 meters. As in the past, they will operate from the NW Haiti Christian

QSL HH4/W4WX direct to W4WX and HH4/K4QD direct or by the bureau to K4QD.
ADDED NOTE: Also, Bill and Jan arrived home safely from Ascension Island
this week. They concentrated primarily on the WARC bands on CW and digital
modes during their week long operation. ZD8WX and ZD8QD QSL cards are on
order and should be available for mailing when they return from Haiti. The

IOTA NEWS...............
EU-042. Hans-Peter, DC1HPS, will activate Pellworm Island (GIA N-23,
WLOTA LH-1188) as DC1HPS/p from July 27th to August 18th. He
will also participate in the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 29-30th).
Look for activity outside of the contest on 80-10 meters with
100 watts. QSL via his home callsign, bureau preferred.

EU-055. Operators Jurgen/DJ5HD, Bernd/DH1ND, Gerd/DG1XG, Ralf/DK4DV,
Manfred/DL6HBX, Wolfgang/DJ5ZWS, Jan-Ole/DB8JO, Jorn/DG5XJ,
Bernd/DJ8LG and Helmut/DL8RM will activate Fedje Island and
the Hellisøy Frystasjon (Lighthouse) (ARLHS NOR-022, WLOTA
LH-0496) from August 17-22nd. Activity will be on all bands
and modes, including participation in the International
Lighthouse/Lightship Weekend (August 19-20th). They will use
personal callsigns with a LA/ prefix and /LH suffix (e.g.:
LA/DG1XG/LH). QSL via the individual operator's home callsign.

EU-085. Operators Alex/RA9XV, Pavel/RA9XY, Anatoly/UA9XBL and Andrei/
UA9XC will be active as RI1PXC and activate Kolguev Island
(RRA RR-03-05, RDA NO-01) from March 14-20th. Activity will
be on 80-10 meters CW/SSB. They will also participate in the
Russian DX Contest (March 18-19th) using the callsign RI1PI.
QSL both callsigns via UA9XC, direct or by the bureau.

EU-123. Operators Doug/GM0ELP, Phil/GM0LIR, Brian/GM0EGI, Iain/GM0OQV,
Will/GM0HKS, Tom/MM0BHX, Bob/2M0KDZ, Iain/2M0VLF, Gord/2M0GPZ
and Duncan/EA5ON will be active from the Isle of Bute, Clyde
Islands (IOSA CL-02, SCOTIA CS-19), as GM0B during the RSGB
IOTA Contest (July 29-30th). Activity will be on all HF non-WARC
bands (excluding 160m), CW and SSB modes. QSL via GM0EGI.

EU-125. Operator Jef, ON4ACA, will be active as OZ0ACA from Roemoe
Island (DIA NS-001 for the Danish Islands Award) from now
until March 10th. Activity will be on CW/SSB and 80/40/20
meters. QSL via his home callsign.

NA-076. Wade/AA8LL and Liz/K8LIZ were expected to operate "holiday
style" from Cedar Key, Florida, this past weekend as AA8LL/4
and K8LIZ/4. QSL direct or by the bureau to their home callsigns.

NA-144. Operators Terry/W6WTG, Larry/KF6JOQ and Mark/KG6ZBL will be
activating Channel Island, June 10-11th. Look for them to be
active on 14.260 MHz +/- and also on 144.210 MHz SSB. Their
QSL Manager is N2OWL.

IWD ACTIVITY (Correction). Mari Carmen/EA8GL and Dunia/EA8BHD are now
on the air with the special callsign, ED8IWD, for the International Womens
Day, until March 8th. They will be transmitting from Isla de Gran Canaria
(IOTA AF-004, DIE S-005). PLEASE NOTE: This operation DOES NOT count for
the WLOTA lighthouse LH-0969 as announced earlier. A special QSL (designed
by Easy QSLs and sponsored by Project 4 of Electronic Applications S.A.)
will be sent out once activity is finished via the Bureau. QSL Manager is

J3 & J7, GRENADA AND DOMINICA. Operators Lars/SM0CCM (J73CCM) and Seth/
SM7XBI (J79XBI) will be active from Dominica (J7) from March 29th through
April 12th. The two operators will be active from Grenada (J3) during the
Caribbian Hamboree, probably using the callsigns J3/homecalls from April
12-19th. On April 19th, they will head back to Dominica staying there
until April 28th. Activity from both places will be on all bands SSB,
CW, RTTY and PSK31. QSL via their home callsigns. Bureau prefered.

J6, ST. LUCIA. Oleh, UR5BCP, is planning to operate from here (NA-108)
from March 30th through April 5th. His callsign was not provided. Activity
will be on 160-6 meters CW/SSB. QSL via KD7WPJ.

J7, DOMINICA. Igor, VA3YDX/VB3M, will be active as J79DX now through
March 14th. He was active in this past weekend's ARRL SSB DX Contest and
is expected to be in the DIG (Diploma Interessen Group) QSO SSB Party this
coming weekend. QSL via VA3YDX: Igor Slakva, 105 La Rose Avenue, #803,
Etobicoke, ON M9P 1A9 Canada.

KP4, PUERTO RICA. Frank, K3TRM, will be on a family holiday in El Verde
and will be active as KP4/K3TRM from April 8-17th. Activity will be on
80-6 meters CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK31, with some emphasis on the WARC bands.
Because he is not staying at a "rent-a-QTH", these plans may change as
he determines his antenna options. QSL via his home callsign, direct or

MJ, JERSEY (Update). Just a reminder that four stateside operators will
be here this week (See OPDX.747). Operators Pete/K8PT, Craig/K3PLV,
Tom/W8JWN and Jim/N1NK will be active from Channel Islands and will be
operating as MJ/homecall from the Island of Jersey (EU-013) from March
8th-15th. They will have two stations on 24 hours per day with a third
station as needed. Operations will cover 160-6 meters (SSB, CW, RTTY & PSK)
with an emphasis on the low bands. QSL via their home callsign. Tom/W8JWN
announced this week he will operate the PSK and RTTY. Although PSK31 is
slow, more guys use that than PSK63. He will do both. Since PSK and RTTY
count the same for DXCC, why not try both modes. He might even try SSTV

P4, ARUBA. Tim, WD9DZV, will be active from here between March 6-16th.
He has requested the callsign P40D. Activity will be on all bands, CW,

as S01R from Western Sahara, April 11-16th. Operation will be on all
bands from 160-10 meters on CW, SSB and Digital modes. They will have

SILENT KEY. It was announced this past week that Tim Chen, BV2A, founder
of the Chinese Taipei Amateur Radio League (CTARL) became a "Silent Key"
(SK) on February 22nd, at the age of 92. For years Tim was the only active
ham in Taiwan and was many DXer's first contact from that entity. OPDX
and its readers would like to send out our deepest sympathy to Tim's
family and friends. E-mail condolence mesages can be sent to the following

SPECIAL EVENT. To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of
the Club Radio Amateur de Quebex (CRAQ) look for the special event station
VE2CRAQ to be aired between March 18-26th, during the club's QSO Party. A

their 60th (Diamond) Anniversary celebrations throughout the year. If you

GB6SWL - Will be active for 3 days, March 17-19th, from Portadown,

TF, ICELAND. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Icelandic Radio
Amateurs (IRA), all TF operators are allowed to use the special prefix
TF60 throughout the year of 2006. The IRA is the National Association of
Radio Amateurs in Iceland and was established on the 14th of August 1946,
and currently has about 130 members. Seli, TF3AO, Treasurer of the IRA,
informed OPDX that TF60IRA has been on the air and was active in the ARRL

TY, BENIN (Update). OPDX was informed that the callsigns for the upcoming
TY DXpedition to take place March 15-30th have been confirmed now. The
