You'd be surprised how often I've heard *really rare* DX calling CQ
without responses.[0] IMHO if the DX wants people to call up, he needs
to SAY SO!

[0] for example... there was a YI9ZF QSL waiting in my mailbox when I
got home from vacation today. Yep, he was CQing on 17m without response.

Hi Doug, I agree with that. They should say so and also give out there call
often also. But I don't think it's good practice to tune up over anyone,
full blast at that. And it's just the awareness that they might be listening
up (though as you say, there might just not be much/any activity yet) that
should get us to listen for a quick minute other than jumping right in. But
then again, maybe that's how you get them b4 the masses chime in...oh well,
food for thought...
