Well the most economical way today would be LTR trunking. The cost of a
motorola or EDACS trunked system for hams as a group and for individuals would
be cost prohibitive. Maybe in a few years as cities and states change over to
digital systems cheaper second hand trunking equipment will be on the market.

If you work for the goverment then we are already screwed.

Trunking is what we use. In time we will
have a nation wide network that will connect every police officer,
from local to every federal agency. It makes sense, if amateur radio
is to be part of Homeland Defense, that we have a national network
that matches them. And playing with this technology is just as much a
part of ham radio as building a simple transceiver.

The more you type, the more you sound like a converted CB wanabe
COP so you are using "ham radio" and "Homeland Defense" to be
that wanabee cop. You are one sick Mother.

While is obvious that you have "issues", and cowards like you like
making problems because you think that no one will be able to reach
out and hurt you, think again. You can be traced and your local
police will be notified that you have obvious emotional illness.

kenwood has a commerical one tk 880 uhf that has the cap to do this.. but
another area to look into is the 220 mhz AM digital mode that looks like its
taken a hit to be droping customers .. due to bad service.. iam looking for
any info on the SEA esp 520 220 mhz radio's. any help would be great..
