In anticipation of the C & G eventually sending me a copy of my RAE
I am going to purchase a QRP rig. The choice for me is between the
Yaesu FT-817ND or the ICOM IC-703. Given that I live in a flat in a
fairly built up area and that I will have to use a loft aerial then
the difference between 5 & 10 watts is not really significant. I
have enough loft space to construct a fanned dipole for 40 through
10m but also intend to do some portable & narrow boat operating.

I would be very interested to hear other peoples' experiences of
these rigs, particularly with regard to the HF receivers on each rig
and especially if anyone has used both. Currently my main interest
is HF DX but I'm sure I will want to explore 6m and later on 2m.
