Default radio pre amp buster

I once read that with a powerful enough radio
transmitter, you can overload their preamp and blast their subwoofers with
a 20Hz sine wave or something. It would be sweet to be able to destroy all
that expensive loud stereo equipment with the flip of a switch so that I can sleep at nite and not have to feel this so called music noise that comes from cars? I was told that you just point the antenna at the car and push the button and there goes the radio and help on how to buid or obtain one?

The problem with such devices in practice is that they are not very
directional, and the power source they require to even get close to
doing as you describe makes them impractical for mobile use without one
mother of a power generator.

A full-sized RV might be able to mount such a device (called a
HERF, or High-Energy Radio Frequency emitter) in a concealed manner, but
I don't see any way a passenger car can do so with our current level of
technology.

As to the non-directionality: A blast of RF powerful enough to blow
out the stereo system in the car you're aiming at would also be powerful
enough to blow the engine-control computer in your own vehicle, and that
of other vehicles around you. This would cause more than a few cars to
come to a sudden halt, including your own, and you could suddenly find
yourself in the middle of a multi-car pileup.

Would you care to find yourself paying for several blown-out engine
computers when the police investigating the crash find HERF equipment in
your car, assuming you could find a way to power it? Not to mention
explaining yourself to a whole flock of no-doubt ****ed-off drivers?

Speaking as someone who works for our state's highway patrol, I
suggest that a more constructive (and far less risky) method for dealing
with your audio pest would be to simply note the license number of the
vehicle involved, and file a complaint with your local police.

With that said: You are not alone. I've often wished for a way to
safely and effectively disable a "Thumpmobile" without causing unwanted
side effects. ;-)

Keep the peace(es).
