FS: 2-meter 25 watt mobile MAKE OFFER

I have a 25-watt 2-meter mobile FM transceiver, with digital VFO tuning,
backlit LCD, 12 memory spots + settable "call channel", 5-segment LED
s-meter/output meter. It supports standard 6khz offsets, plus you can
combine memory channels to do odd splits like for the ISS up/downlinks. It
comes with the power cord and microphone handset. The handset has a DTMF
tone pad and I've added an external microphone/PTT jack for use with a
headset or packet gear. I have documented all of the features and controls
because the manual is hard to find these days; I'll include doc's with the
radio.
Model number is KDK FM-2033.

Feel free to make any offer. I won't be insulted by low offers; I just might
not take them.

(remove the obvious)

Thanks.

Serial Number 8L551464 with MH-36C mike. Taken from van broken into by
smashing glass in sliding door. Antennas left behind; maybe frightened
off by traffic. Entry to friend's yard gained by lifting gate off
hinges on post. Unfortunately both pivot hinges pointed upward. If one
up/one down, might not have happened.

I'm sorry if I have offended anybody with my for-auction post, but at a
glance I can see at least six other "FA:" posts on this NG and nobody has
complained about any of them. Could somebody please explain what I have done
to warrant complaints from three different people?
As for "selling extra stuff", if the buyer is concerned about this, I will
list the item as a "buy-it-now" sale so that it will be covered by eBay.
I am concerned about how people view me both on eBay and the newsgroups, so

Spurious Noise September 26th 03 06:19 AM

Greg -- the answer to your question can be found at the rec.radio guidelines
at URL:
http://faqs.jmas.co.jp/FAQs/radio/personal-intro

Sez: The rec.radio.amateur .equipment group is NOT the place for buying or
selling
equipment, that's what rec.radio.swap is for.

Guidelines say -- rec.radio.amateur .equipment is for Amateur Radio Hardware
and software discussions.

Many folks post their FS FA WTB WTD items on all the newsgroups which
really is poor practice.
The rec.radio groups are broken down into several categories so one doesn't
have to see the same posts in all the NG's.
Just a way to TRY and keep order out of chaos.

However, it doesn't work well as folks do what they darn well please.
Since the groups are unmoderated -- little can be done about those who spam
all rec.radio NG's
The "at least six other FA posts" you cited are not following the
guidelines either. Doesn't make it "right"

Most everyone I know reads all of the rec.radio NG's -- so why spam em all
and be out of context on most of them ???

I am not playing NG cop -- just answering your question.
Continue with spamming all NG's if you want,
but be prepared for some heat from the regular readers
who will tell you to post within the guidelines.

Personally, I only list items FA, FS, etc... in the rad.radio.swap newsgroup.
It saves a lot of hassle. If someone is looking to buy something, they'll look
there.

As far as people complaining about you selling other things in your auction,
forget 'em. Ebay is much more worried about illegal amps and 10 meter radios
than to worry about your auction. They're just playing Ebay Police.

Thank you for your replies. I'm sorry for adding to the garbage pile here; I
previously had not read the posting guidelines for the rec.radio groups, and
seeing all the for-sale and for-auction ads, thought it was a generally
accepted practice to post them on the "equipment" group. Spurious Noise,
thank you for the link to the guidelines article; hopefully I'll make wiser

"To me", they can post a FA, FS, WTB, what every if it pertains to the

They are at least as on topic as about 50% of the discussions,
probably more.

The groups have grown and changed as has the internet and Amateur
Radio.

Although the "market place is, or rather, *should* be the best, If
I'm reading the antennas group and some one has an antenna for sale,
or is looking for one, it seems a suitable forum to me. Besides they
are probably more likely to find some one interested than the people
going to the "market place". Although I keep that group and
occasionally visit, I am far more likely to see something of interest
is it's placed on the groups I read.

I say this never having posted a FS, or FA on any of the newsgroups as
far as I can remember.

It has my sig, I don't know what the news reader did to the top.
There was no quoting, my post was the only thing there on mine.

Funny how eBay works! His bid is over $60 now. I hope he gets it!

Not worth it. You should have taken the $25.00

Supply and demand.... Apparently someone wants it. Not trying to be ignorant
here, I've worked on one of these in the past.. they weren't bad but nothing
to knock your socks off. In this day and age, $25 is the most I too would
have offered due to the radios age. But, to each their own. I've paid a few
bucks for some stuff too that others probably would have scoffed at. I'm
sure the rest of you have as well. With one last thought, one reason why it
MAY be fetching so much? Because it uses circuitry that most anyone can
still repair. Not SMD. SO.... maybe they want it for ease of repair
(providing parts are available). I know the next time I buy an H.F. rig it
will be something vintage. I'm not real thrilled working on SMD. My eyes are
not getting any stronger with age. I do it, but no one said I had to like
it. My Kenwood TS 440 knock on wood still works.. But it would be a cold day
in hell when I pay out that kind of cash again. Not when I can have a good
HW101 or the likes. I loved their audio.

Good luck on the radio sale.
