Default Wideband receiver with IF output

Hi everybody,

I am looking for a wideband receiver (up to 1GHz) that has a connector
for the last IF signal before the demodulation.

I would like to use the receiver just as downconverter and then do the
demodulation myself by doing an A/D conversion followed by some signal
processing on a PC.

Which receivers are best suited for this purpose?

Are there any receivers that can be controlled by a PC? I would like to
tune the frequency with the PC.

Thanks!

Stefan

The ICOM IC-R8500 tunes up to 2 GHz, has a 10.7 MHz wide band
IF output, and a computer interface. The IF is a few MHz wide
when tuning the receiver above 30 MHz.

I wrote tk8500 open source control software, which you may download

The AR5000 does too.

Thanks for your answers!

I had a look at both receivers and both are really nice. However, of
course these receivers also have their price.

Are there actually vendors that sell plain RF-Frontends? I just need a
device (it doesn't need to be able to transmit signals) that can be used
to downconvert signals in the range up to 1GHz down to some intermediate
frequency. Is there any low-cost solution?

Thanks,

Stefan
