I'm having some trouble with the auto-tuner in my Yaesu FT-1000 and I'm wondering if anyone can help. If I turn on the auto-tuner, even when I have a near-perfect match to the antenna, the SWR goes very high and the output power goes very low. If I hit START, the WAIT light comes on and then it just sits there, nothing happens, only way out is to turn the auto-tuner off. I'm waiting for a service manual to arrive and then I'll troubleshoot it, but meanwhile I wanted to find out if any of the rest of you have seen that problem, or if there is a common thing that causes it. It's relatively unimportant at this time because I use an external tuner with a ladder-line-fed inverted V, but I'd like the internal tuner to work... The radio is an older FT-1000, no -D or -MP or any other suffix. Thanks for any help... |
