My Yaesu 757 GX2 has given up the ghost. Appears that the VFO has shat
itself. I turn the VFO and hear metal grinding type noises and the frequency will not change in one direction and will change very slowly in the other. My question is this: Has anyone got a spare VFO unit for this radio that they would part with? Or any other advice is appreciated Regards Troy |

Troy, take the drive knob off and make sure the shaft to the optical
encoder is not solid, this is common with steel shaft running in a brass bush. some wd40 on the shaft left to soak in and then work the shaft gently back and forwards till it frees up. I'd put money on it that this is your problem Good Luck Dave On Wed, 12 Nov 2003 22:06:47 +1100, "Troy - VK2HXY" wrote: My Yaesu 757 GX2 has given up the ghost. Appears that the VFO has shat itself. The VFO spins quite freely Dave and makes some ghastly noises too. When I
turn the dial it feels like slips, the frequency will shift a little in one direction, but works, only just in the other direction. Again, all with some horrible type clunking noise. I'll try it, any other suggestions apart from burning the radio. Thanks for your time Dave "DAVE" wrote in message news ![]() encoder is not solid, this is common with steel shaft running in a brass bush. some wd40 on the shaft left to soak in and then work the shaft gently back and forwards till it frees up.
