Default WTB: Collins KWM-380 for parts

Hello all - I guess it is sacreligious to think that anyone would not repair
this xcvr., but I have to ask.
If anyone has a non-working Collins KWM-380 or HF-380 that you have given up
on, please let me know. I am specifically looking for a good trim ring that
goes around the face, maybe a case. Also, could use some of the optonal
boards for inside the xcvr.
If you have anything available, please let me know direct.
Thanks - Larry

Isn't that the sort of thing that Surplus Sales of Nebraska is so good
at? Tiny little parts with high prices, but at least you can get them.

Good one

I remember the first time I noticed an ad for the company, sometime
in the eighties but I don't know if they'd been running ads before.
"A new surplus place, I'll send for the catalog". And then it comes,
and there are interesting things, but unlike the surplus catalogs
I'd come to know, the prices were all high.

So something that would be really neat to build with, like an IF
filter out of the KWM-380, had such a high price that virtually
all the alternatives were more appealing. The only reason one
could pay that was if it was absolutely necessary, which would
mean you need one to replace the one in your Collins transceiver.

I haven't seen their catalog recently, but I wince every time I
see people suggest it for some mundane part like one of those
"365pf variable capacitors" so common in construction projects.
Those are so easy to get, even if you have to buy a radio at
a garage sale, there is no reason to pay a premium price.
