Default Icom 208-h Question

I recently purchased a Icom 208h dual bander and was wondering if
anyone has tried getting more audio out of this radio. I have a 207-h
also that has much better audio. The 208 seems like it needs to have
something adjusted to give it a bit more. Im guessing there is an
adjustment in there somewhere but i hate to turn the wrong pot and
screw something else up!

Thanks alot Dan in ny

I opened mine up. Surprise ! There are no pots to turn or screw up, so you
can safely open it and twiddle all you want.

The radio is capable of wide band and narrow band operation, but I don't
know how wide or narrow each setting is, and if you're using narrow already,
that's as loud as it will get.

Did you try a good external speaker to find out if it's the little speaker
in the 208 or the audio circuit that's giving you low audio?

Thanks for the quick reply but....What i meant was my audio
output...like some sort of microphone adjustment for more audio out.
People say my 207h sounds much better than the 208.

Thanks dan

There is a wideband/narrowband menu option, as well as a high/low
sensitivity option for the mike audio. Try those settings. I think they're
on the power-up menu.

But unfortunately there are no user serviceable adjustments or parts inside,
just like the little labels used to say.

I have 2 of them...1 I use in the car the other in the shack. At the shack I
use a Turner super sidekick mike...yea its an 11 meter mike but the bassey
audio sounds good. In the radio there are no pots or any adjustment for that
matter. It is all controlled by the firmware. Make sure you are not in
narrow fm and put the mike sensitivity on high. For now that's all you can
do. Great radio though!! I had a Yaesu FT7100M what a piece of junk.
This one is much better!!! Enjoy and 73's K2SGT
