4ax.com: It recently has started to power itself off for no apparent reason after being on for a minute or two. It behaves as if it is going through the automatic shutdown which is set for 60 minutes of no activity. I had a similar problem. Solved by cleaning the contacts between the control head and the body of the radio. Jean-Marie |
Mine started doing the same thing about 2 weeks ago. i have cleaned all of the contacts and ribbon cables that had even the slightest appearence o tarnish/grunge. Tore the power connector apart and cleaned and resized the pins, even jumpered/bypassed them but still no good.
Sometimes it will power up, other times it just sits there and clicks the power enabling relay. It even clicks with the control head removed sometimes. when it it does power up it will stay on from a second to a minute or two. sometimes just moving the radio will allow it to power up. This is not a power source problem as it doe it on various power sources. It acts like maybe a shorted resistor/capacitor or regulator chip, heating up and shutting down. The ic-7000 has a similar fault and is repairable by replacing a 4.7 ohm resistor and a capacitor!! I don't know if a similar circuit is in the mk2g or not. Anyone else come up with a fix yet??? |
