I have a Kenwood TS-50 that has Special Function 82 (Monitor) assigned
to one of the 4 keys on the microphone. When I press this nothing happens (I expected to hear demodulated TX audio from the speaker when I talk). I tried assigning the Monitor Function to another button that is known to work and still nothing happens. So it's not the button. Was the Monitor Function an option? Was it known not to work? Is there something I am missing? On the internet I found two other people noting that the Monitor Function was not working on a TS-50 but no answers. This is not a major issue since the radio works fine in all other respects. Curtis Eickerman Do not respond via email. The address won't work. |

While I haven't tried it on my TS-50, that's what I had to do one of my other Kenwoods. Dee D. Flint, N8UZE |

The Monitor function opens the squelch. The TS50 does not have a TX audio

If that's the case, it doesn't rank up there as being anything of much value to me (opening a squelch that I don't use on sideband). The operating manual simply provided zero explanation for the function so the assumption was that it should work like the "Monitor" function of other radios. Guess not. (shrug) Curtis Eickerman |
