Hi, I'm part of an amateur radio astronomy group trying to get a dish on
top of a roof to work. We have much of the equipment, but are having
trouble putting it together, as far as how exactly to hook everything
up. Would this be the right newsgroup to post to? Thanks.

But if you're talking about just the antennas, then
rec.radio.amateur.antenna might be the most useful place. If you've got
hardware matters (as in electronic hardware related to radio),
rec.radio.amateur.homebrew might be a better place.
rec.radio.amateur.space might be of some use, though much of it
is about satellite work. If moonbounce is discussed there, some of
the discussion might be appropriate.

Hi Brian,
Do a search for SARA (Society of Amateur Radio Astronomers). This
group is very active in RA and members will be very helpful.
