Thanks Gary. I managed myself though. It was quite easy when I
really looked. In addition to the 3 screws holding the print card
there was a ring screwed on to the volume knob. When I unfastened
this the print card came looose nice and easy.

Changing the display was even easier. No soldering, no glue, it was
neatly clipped onto the print card. Off with the defect one, on with
the replacement display, some checking to ensure the whole thing was
clipped on right and voila, I had it all working.
